               Norton head coach Bill Johnson is the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association Coach of the Year.  He coached his 2000-2001 team to numerous top notch performances, including, MCL Dual Champions, MCL Tournament Champions, 3-2-1A Regional Runner-ups, and 3rd place at the 3-2-1A State Tournament.

               After a 3 year stint with Kingman High School, Johnson has been with Norton since 1991.  Through the years he has coached his teams through many state appearances.

His team placed 4th at the 3-2-1A state tournament in 2000, 3rd in 1996 and 2001, and 2nd in 1997 and 1998.  With his teams’ 1997 impressive state performance, also came his first KWCA 3A Coach of the Year honor.

               Johnson graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1989 where he was a varsity wrestler.  He was inducted into the FHSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999.  That same year he was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame.  Besides coaching he is also a physical education and social science instructor at Norton High School.
