4A Senior Wrestler of the Year - 2002

Clay Center High School’s Trevor Charbonneau capped off an impressive career with a state title and a 34-1 record as a senior 119-pounder for the state champion Tigers. Charbonneau’s career record over four years was 128-6, with four state medals earned. Charbonneau’s state placings were third at 103 lbs. as a freshman, third at 112 lbs. as a sophomore, third at 119 lbs. as a junior, then first as a senior.

During his senior campaign, Charbonneau won tournament titles as Osbourne, Clay Center, Rossville, Beloit, Silver Lake, and regionals, in addition to state. He was named the Outstanding Wrestler at Clay Center, Beloit, and Silver Lake. He also was a Salina Journal All-Area team member.

Charbonneau’s skills for success extended into the classroom as well, as he compiled a 3.7 GPA in his four years at Clay Center High School.

Charbonneau’s plans are to wrestle at 125 pounds for the University of Nebraska-Kearney in the NCAA Division II ranks. Charbonneau plans on majoring in construction management.
