WIBW 580 Radio’s Bruce Steinbrock is one of this year’s winners of the annual Media of the Year awards for his work covering wrestling events over the air.

Steinbrock has worked as Sports Director for WIBW Radio for three years and was previously Sports Director at EBC Radio in Salina from 1989-2000.

A graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Steinbrock earned a B.S. degree in Radio and Television/Mass Communications, finishing in 1989.

Steinbrock’s services covering wrestling are numerous, including promotion of local wrestling meets and results; live coverage of college wrestling event at Washburn Rural High School between Neosho County Community College and Labette County Community College; and the promotion of the State Kids Federation and National competitions. He has promoted camps and clinics as well. He has had on his show as guests numerous Topeka and Topeka-area high school wrestling colleges, Kansas collegiate coaches, and recently 2000 Olympic gold medalist Rulon Gardner.

While in Salina, Steinbrock covered Salina South, Salina Central, and Southeast of Saline wrestling including live play-by-play of state meets.

For his tremendous radio coverage of Kansas wrestling, the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association is pleased to honor Bruce Steinbrock with a Media of the Year Award.
