Shawn Drennen is the winner of this year’s 3-1A Senior Wrestler of the Year Award. Of Minneapolis High School, Drennen was one of the state’s premier wrestlers putting together a career record of 121-7, placing all four years at the State Tournament and winning two titles.

Drennen had a senior year record of 31-2, winning tournament titles at Osborne, Minneapolis, Ellsworth, and State. He placed second at Beloit and third at Regionals. He was named the Outstanding Wrestler at Osborne, Minneapolis, and Ellsworth.

As a freshman, Drennen placed fourth in the State at 130 pounds. He then made the state finals, finishing second as a sophomore at 135 pounds. As a junior and a senior, Drennen won state titles at 140 and 145 pounds. He won a total of 18 regular season tournament championships.

Drennen was a four-time league wrestling champion, and also an All-League football player.

He currently is competing for the Fort Hays State University wrestling team, majoring in Elementary Education.
