Mike Porsch is this year’s recipient of the 3-1A Assistant Coach of the Year Award. He helped lead the powerful Hoxie wrestling squad to an undefeated dual record of 17-0, nine tournament wins, 13 state qualifiers, and regional and state team championships.

This year’s Hoxie team also set state records for team points (218.5) and placewinners (11).

Coach Porsch began coaching the Hoxie Kids Wrestling Club from 1990-95 and also at the junior high level from 1994-2003. He has been a Hoxie High School assistant coach since 1995 for the last eight years. During that time, he has helped the team win four state titles, two runner-up finishes, one third-place finish, and one fourth-place finish.

As a competitor, Porsch wrestled four years for coach Kirk Baker and the Hoxie Indians. He was a three-time state qualifier and placed twice at state (second and fourth). He was a member of Hoxie teams that placed three times at state (fourth, second, and third).

Porsch started varsity at Colby Community College under Hall of Fame coach Steve Lampe also.
