5A Assistant Coach of the Year - 2005

Ben Jiminez is one of two 5A Asst. Coaches of the Year.

Jiminez helped lead the Hornets to an 18-5 dual record and an 11th place state finish. VCHS placed first at the Washburn Rural Championship Duals, 2nd at Bishop Carroll, and third at the Colby and Valley Center tournaments.

Jiminez, who teaches high school social studies, previously was a head coach at Wichita Independent for one year and has been an assistant at Valley Center for four years.

Jiminez was a 5A heavyweight state champ and he then played football at Kansas State, competing in the Fiesta Bowl in 1996 and the Cotton Bowl in 1997. He was an NCAA Academic All-American Honorable Mention in 1997 and received the “Red Raven Award” for K-State football in 1996.
