Brett Means is a co-winner of the 6A Assistant Coach of the Year award, along with fellow coaching colleague Joey Vrana.

Means helped lead Goddard to tournament titles at the Emporia Winter Classic, the Goddard Invitational, and Regionals. The team had 11 state qualifiers and four placers, as well as the school’s first ever three-time state champion in Tommy Edgmon.

Means had previously coached the Goddard Kids Club, and he has been a GHS assistant since 2000.

As a competitor, Means was an NCAA Div. II All-American placing sixth in 1980 for Southern Illinois, and an NJCAA All-American for Labette placing fourth in 1977.

Means was a state champion for Goddard in 1975 and state runner-up in 1974 and 1976.
