5A Senior Wrestler of the Year - 2006

Tristen DeShazer’s fourth state title is an amazing accomplishment, and one that earned him the honor of being the 5A Senior of the Year. DeShazer won his fourth title for Wichita West HS after going an impressive 40-0 his senior year.

DeShazer and fellow Senior of the Year Clay Madden became the state of Kansas’ 19th and 20th four-time state champions ever.

DeShazer won his four titles at 103, 112, 119, and 130. His career record was 147-3 and he was aso a 2006 High School All-American, placing fourth.

In his senior year, DeShazer won titles at Ark City, Emporia, Salina South, Kapaun, Blue Valley, Goddard, GWAL, and Regionals. He was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the GWAL and Regionals.

DeShazer also excelled on the football field for Wichita West, earning second team and honorable mention All-City honors.

DeShazer was a strong student with a 2.9 GPA, as well. He was given a USD #259 Shining Star Award.
