3-2-1A Assistant Coach of the Year - 2006

JIM JOHNSON
Burlington High School

Tim Johnson and Rusty Emling have helped head coach Doug Vander Linden have much success at Burlington High School. The team is a consistent winner, due in part to the assistant coach’s work.

The Burlington Wildcats went 18-5 overall in duals last year to extend their dual winning streak to nine years now. They won five team trophies last year and were second at Regionals for their first regional trophy in school history. They also had a school record seven state qualifiers and a placer.

The JV team won 210 matches to 208, only the third time in school history that both levels were over 50%. The team had 574 wins and 351 pins, a 61% pin percentage, and 723 takedowns…all school records.

Johnson teaches College Prep Biology and Human Anatomy/Physiology.
