3-2-1A Assistant Coach of the Year - 2006

TERRY KEATING
Hesston High School

Hesston’s Terry Keating is a winner of a 321A Assistant Coach of the Year award for his work and support of the successful Hesston High School wrestling program. Keating has assisted HHS head coach Doug Broadfoot for the past five years. He previously helped with the Hesston kids club for four years. He has proudly and loyally served the Hesston wrestling community for nine years.

This past season at Hesston, a highlight was qualifying four wrestlers for the 321A State Championships in Hays, with one of those grapplers earning a sixth place medal. Keating’s coaching at Hesston has been a important part of the team’s success.

Perhaps most important, Keating’s service to the profession of coaching has been educating young men preparing them for life beyond scholastic sports.

“I have prided in myself and coach Broadfoot in our ability to teach kids that have never wrestled before high school, to a level where they are able to compete (and win) on the mat, and to enjoy the sport of wrestling . . . also to teach life lessons as well as the sport,” Keating said.
