Jon and the 2007-08 Beaver team had a dual record of 13-6.  They were Mid-States Activities Association League wrestling champs.  Jon’s team represented the state tournament in 7 weight classes and placed 4.

Jon has been the wrestling coach at Scott City since 1980.  Since being head coach in the 1985-1986 school year, he has put together a dual record of 230-91-3.  He’s had 180 state qualifiers, 75 state placers and 17 state champions.

Lippelmann, had won 3 state team titles (1990, 1994, and 2004), two state runner-up trophies (1993 and 2001), a third place finish in 1989, and a 4th place in 1992 all in the in 4A classification.

Jon’s teams have been 4A Regional champs in 1987, 1990, 1993, 1994, 2001, and 2004 and runners-up in 1992 and 2000.  After moving to the 3-2-1A classification they have been Regional runners-up in 2007 and 2008.  He has 14 league titles (NWKL and MSAA) in 1987, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, placing second in 1988, 1993, 1994, and 2003.

He has been named 4A Kansas Coach of the Year three years and was awarded his fourth this year in the 3-2-1A division.  KWOA awarded Jon the sportsmanship coach of the year in 1990.  He has coached the Senior Classic dual in 1990, 1994, and 2004.

Lippelmann graduated from Decatur Community High School in Oberlin and wrestled under Gordon (Buzz) Matson, placing 3rd twice at state and runner-up in 1975 at Grand State all in the heavyweight division.  He attended Pratt Community Junior College, lettering in football both 1976 and 1977.  He then transferred to Pittsburg State University graduating in 1979.

Jon has been coaching wrestling at Scott City since 1980 (Assistant 1980-1985 and Head 1986 to present).  He has also coached 7th grade football for 29 seasons at Scott City Middle School.  He teaches Technology Education at the Middle School.
