I wanted to thank the DeSoto Wrestling Club for renaming there tournament this morning. It is not the Dean Sheets Novice Classic. You do not know what that meant to my Dad(Dean). He loves the sport of wrestling. It doesn't matter who is wrestling the man keeps coaching. This fall he went to a middle school match my son was in. He was watching and yelling "Ankle-Half" you get the picture.
Although I had to share my father with hundreds of boys and girls thoughout the years. I am glad to share hi with you because his love for this sport is what holds our family together. Both his sons coach and his oldest daughter writes about in and because I want to be closer to him I started my own wrestling club in Iola and now they will have High School wrestling next year.
I want some of you to think back and tell me your stories about Dean and how he helped get your clubs and schools started. A few of you spoke this morning at th tournament. I know Bonner Springs and Olathe should have some great stories. Wrestlers back in the 80's should remember him as the"Man in the Purple Suit"
Send me your stories he turns 81 on April 27th I'll but all your stories together and give thm to him. He is not a computer person by posting here or emailing me we should be safe.
