Scarecrow, do you see Graham from Ark City getting his 4th title at 130. He sure has taken his lumps this year. And if you had to choose between one location to watch the finals (like you do this year) where would you go?

Theres a lot of talk about the lower and mid weight classes, any one have any 6a Predictions on some Upper weight classes?
Posted By: Shark16
Re: predictions - 02/17/08 07:00 PM
I'm sure we can say this for a number of other weight classes all throughout the state, but it's a shame that they stuck Detmer and Flynn on the same side of the bracket at 5A 152 after they met in the finals at 145 last year. We say this every year about a few potential semifinal matchups, but it's a shame that it works out this way.
shipmanm-
I have never found Grahm that impressive, but he turns it on when he has to, i watched mertins pin him in like 45 seconds at rosehill last yr, then beat him at state. Grahm is a very "when its on the line im gonna bring it every time" type of wrestler. So yah, i do see him getting number 4.
As for the going to watch a state tournament, i would probably choose to go and watch 6a JUST because i wanna see lhs. BUT if i were unbias, i would go and watch 4a in a heartbeat.
Chief-
I didnt see look at that i guess.
And one more thing, tell tanner to keep his head up. He can do good, give him a little bit of motivation all week. UPSETS that really shouldnt happen at all, happen every year.... If you want proof of this look at the 6a 103 top half of the bracket last year. Tell him that hes got someone rootin for him up in south dakota.

I definately think that 4A 119 would be one of the deepest brackets. Usually it's an upper weight bracket because at those weights you tend to see more upperclassmen.
any one got any ideas in 321a 103 to hwt

Re: predictions - 02/18/08 01:47 AM
It seems like 4A is pretty competitive up and down the lineup; especially 119. I will be watching 5A to see how the Keller twins do. I hope they both win. I think Detmer is a sure bet.

That can be good sometimes. I've seen Vincent wrestle, it could be a good match. Westmoreland is getting better each match. He has won several big matches this year against ranked wrestlers.

It's a hard call - Both are good. Baker hasn't lost this year and Long's loses are to Cotton. I would venture Baker would have a few hits on his won/lose record if he wrestled Cotton also. You gotta pick one. It's to bad they didn't meet in the finals.

Re: predictions - 02/20/08 12:11 PM
Clint Bruce won 5-2 over Blake Long at Rosehill.
Baker has wins over:
*Alex Rupnick (30-2) - #1 ranked in 4A. Baker gave him his only two losses, beating him 16-3 in Rossville in their last meeting.
*Joel Marrs (34-4) - #2 ranked in 4A.
*Andrew Davis - The Glenwood Iowa kid who pinned his way to the finals at the Bobcat and was up by 10 when he pinned Jace Banner. Baker beat him 11-0 in the finals.
*He pinned #2 ranked (?) in 6A, Roman Villegas and #7 ranked in 4A, Evan Meyers.

I have removed this post – My train of thought was saying one thing and my words said another. Thanks for bring it to my attention. My apologies to Blake – I meant no harm.
I was trying to make a point and it came out wrong. AGAIN my Apologies to Mr. Long.
He is my pick to win it all!!!
I would have totally deleted it and posted my apoligies, but I didn't know how.

Im not saying that hes not a great wrestler, he has beaten some greats, but then again I remember watching Mertins pin him, and Ely said he always used to work him. Ok Grahm is a great wrestler. Its not like he hasnt been in challenging brackets. his freshman yr im pretty sure he beat metzler in the semis, and also in that bracket were guys such as flynn, keller, broadbent. Then he beat Delich and mertins his soph year. Last year i witnessed him hit the same move over and over on Marcus in the finals. Hi Crotch Firemans. I will say hes a great wrestler, and prolly will be a 4 timer. But against other 4 timers i wouldnt consider him on the top.
But then again, it doesnt matter, because he is on top he's a 4timer

Re: predictions - 02/20/08 03:41 PM
You can't take 4 championships away from Trison but you can't ignore the huge number of losses he has accumulated over that time as well. I don't want to look it up today but I would venture to say that he has more than doubled the number of losses by the next wrestler with 4 Kansas State Championships. Trison wrestles well at state but maybe not as good other places which makes him less impressive. I think that fairly sums it up.

Re: predictions - 02/20/08 03:49 PM
Travis Stites was like that...not overly impressive but got it done at the big one.

Yes but does anyone wrestle the schedule that Trison has wrestled either?

If you were a college coach recruiting kansas kids would Graham be in your top twenty choices?
Would Graham be in the top twenty kids to come from Ark City?
Dear Mr. Log in
I know this is a free country and people have the right to voice their opinions no matter how asinine they may be. but for crying out loud try thinking next time. First I was present at all 3 matches and Long did win the first 2. Both in my opinion were well contested. However that is a matter of opinion yours vs mine. But for you to attack Blake and accuse him of being a coward and accuse him of taking a dive in one match to avoid another without proof is in excusable. Possibly since you chose the cowardly act of accusing this student anonymously and you yourself would take a dive in one match to run from competition you believe others take the same path. I would suggest that before you make such assumptions and publicly attack the character of an individual you have proof!

you have to consider Grahams 20+ losses.. lot of Oklahoma knicks on Grahams resume... its alright to stumble before you get to the stairs, its after when it hurts - the dude knows when to turn it on!! the question regarding he being on AC's top twenty - how can he not, possible 4 timer, that makes him #3 (on my list) if he wins!! If I'm a recruiter - he pretty freakin high.

Re: predictions - 02/20/08 06:22 PM
ol' ac dog now come on. are any of the 4xer's from ark city even the best to come out of ark city. the best to come out of there only won it twice i believe. what do you think?
I will agree with cokely, i also would say that trison being a 4 timer, i would not want to wrestle him, haha. He deffinatley knows when to turn it on. That is something that alot of wrestlers lack. I will say that Donny Altman deffinatley wrestled his best with pressure on the line. It seems the same with trison.

Right on Mike. At least nobody believed that about Blake. We all expect a fantastic match with Baker in the semis! (assuming they both take care of business to get there).

Best AC Wrestler, from a talent perspective, was Eddie Borror. Come all you old AC guys, sound off!
The more I look at the 145 bracket, I am now calling a Gaither/Miller final.
