Have Tre and Jake G wrestled? IF not wouldnt it be fair to have them wrestle off so they could wrestle on the Blue Team.

I think that a 3xer has dibs on being on the first team. No offense. I am pretty sure you are also the guy who said Ryne and Taylor were not going to wrestle at Winnetonka because they were dodging competition. Say it isn't so? smile

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/03/11 06:22 PM

I dont think I ever posted on here saying they were dodging competitiion if you go back I said I looked forward to seeing them wrestle since I had heard great thngs about them. Cokeley look at the post. I will never put kids down. For I know they have no input to what there schedule is. Yes Jake is a three time state champ. That doesnt mean he is the best 125lb in the state this year. I wasn't putting Jake down I was just asking a question. What would a wrestle off hurt. I love it when someone on here makes a comment to challege the good ole boys club Super Cokekly come to the rescue.

People better get on the ball, do you have alternates ready to go like a 3rd string/ 4th string?

As soon as a wrestler declines the invitation, I have added the next one in the rankings. Any of the ranked AC wrestlers will be very tough!

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/04/11 02:11 PM

Looks like some District IV kids will be bypassing their All Star meet to go seek out competition and be seen by college coaches out of state that week.

Both teams still need a 112, 130, 135, and 160. Get on the ball guys!

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/04/11 07:58 PM

Some are choosing to seek out the competition right here in KS. Underclassmen still have a couple of years left to be seen my college coaches:)

The funny thing is every year it seems people are complaining about not having a grand state and now we all have the chance to do a grand state and your trying to take the two tops kids from each weight to something else so how do we know they are really the best kids

Kids state is not grand state.

no offense to luke bean but kyle pacheco placed higher, was he invited to this event?

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/06/11 06:07 PM

These dual teams are based on the All-Class rankings, the organizers started with the top two ranked wrestlers at each weight and move down the list if someone declines to go.
Posted By: rassler

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/06/11 09:42 PM

Chief and cokeley skewed the all class rankings so they could take the kids they wanted,If they had wanted to take pacheco they would of made sure that he was ranked higher.

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/07/11 12:11 AM

I agree, but then again it is their rankings, their teams, their trip...their deal, in all honesty they can take who ever they want.
Posted By: firehawk88

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/07/11 12:49 AM

Rankings are a thankless job. You could spend hundreds of hours and give the rankings to best of your abilities and half of the people don't agree with you. Of that half, some will choose to silently disagree and others will poke fun and talk smack. Some people will respectfully disagree. In the end, its an educated guess and you can't make all the people happy all the time. I sure wouldn't want to do the rankings. I will just respectfully tell Chief what I think from time to time. Looking forward to the summer wrestling and next year!

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/07/11 01:09 AM

I agree but they just need to come out and pick who they want instead of hiding behind the rankings and then skewing them so they can take who they want anyway.

I have NOTHING to do with the ALL CLASS rankings. Furthermore, they were posted well before we made a decision to even go to Colorado. They have been posted all year. I really don't care who goes as long as we have two full teams. I guarantee you that neither I nor The Chief have anything against Kyle Pacheco.

Personally, I think a CS like rassler should organize his own team and take them so he can pick and choose who he wants to. Oh, that would be work and rassler would rather hide his identity and stir up crap, a real productive use of time.

Here is my PM to rassler...

"I work major hours each week to make the rankings as accurate as possible and you really think I skewed them to take who I wanted on this trip? Now I know that you will never say who you are in public. That's embarrassing and cowardly."

You didn't disagree with me. You charged me with changing the rankings to take who I wanted on the trip. That's a big difference. You did that while hiding behind an alias. I call that cowardly. The embarrasing part is that you can't understand the mechanics of the rankings. They have been maintained all year and I have attempted to answer every question presented regarding my choices. The rankings were posted BEFORE we ever thought about making dual teams.

That's why your post before and your post just now are embarrassing and cowardly!

Some wrestlers are staying to wrestle in the RMN tournament on Sat/Sun!

if you read the rules it says you MUST wrestle the rmn tournament. i am sure ed just wants the extra entry fee but you might want to clarify that.

I am working with Ed. He is somewhat flexible but I do need to know who is going to stay and wrestle through the weekend so I can arrange transportation and lodging accordingly. ANY seniors who are going to Senior Nationals should wrestle the entire weekend. JMO.

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/12/11 03:28 AM

After totaling the costs for the transportation, fuel, hotel, entry fees, t-shirt/shorts and adding in the additional costs for wrestling in the tournament on Saturday/Sunday, we have landed on the following per wrestler cost:

$125 - Friday duals only.
$200 - Both duals and tournament.

We are currently looking for donors!

Chase called and said they won all three duals and they were done for the day. Both Team Kansas teams went undefeated. And they didn't want the two team Kansas teams to dual each other.

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/18/11 09:47 PM

Wow! Our Kansas teams ran straight over everybody. Kansas Blue and Red both won their pools. We decided not to wrestle each other but instead combined our teams to wrestle the tournament all-stars from other teams. Team Kansas won that dual 39-22.

I only know the Kansas Blue scores and will get details on here soon.

Kansas Blue - 51
Nebraska Black - 12

Kansas Blue - 76
Pueblo, CO - 6

Kansas Blue - 74
Montana - 0

Great matches all day long! One highlight was Reece Wright-Conklin beating Willie Swartzkopf 3-0. I thought he was the underdog on that one and....I was wrong!

More details to follow.

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/20/11 03:08 AM

Wow, what a day! I just got back to the hotel. 2300 wrestlers! I just checked and Track doesn't have the brackets so here are some details.

Our 16 wrestlers went 33-6 today! 15 are still in the tournament and 11 are still on the front side! If the brackets had been seeded correctly we would have more on the front side.

Results:

103 - Parker Howell - 2-1
112 - Hunter Price - 2-1 (Lost 3-2 to the #1 seed)
119 - Bo Newport - 2-0
119 - Alex Garcia - 2-1
125 - Chris Sullivan - 1-2 (Lost on a defensive pin)
135 - Jonathan Blackwell - 2-0
135 - Courtney Strauss - 2-0
152 - Ryne Cokeley - 2-0
152 - Chase Sanchez - 2-0 (Nice OT win)
160 - Drake Lovvorn - 2-0
160 - Kane Kelly - 3-0
171 - Reece Wright-Conklin - 2-0
171 - Taylor Baird - 2-0
189 - Zach Anderson - 3-1 (Lost to #1 seed in first match)
285 - Jesse Trent - 2-0
285 - Eric Mason - 2-0

We have a real shot at the 18U Team Championship trophy. It;s SIX FEET tall!

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/20/11 04:19 AM

For the record I'm very impressed with the Team Kansas Results. But this doesn't seem like an event that other states take very seriously. Besides Cadet and Junior Duals, maybe there's an event we can find next year for collegiate style. Not sure there is one? Taking nothing away from the title the boys brought home. I think the organizers did a fantastic job and I appreciaite that. As far a a team stand point can we find something better? Again, to get some of the best Kansas has to offer, was a great effort. And much appreciated. Great Job Team Kansas!

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/20/11 12:23 PM

Tim,

For the dual portion of the tournament, I agree. There were still some great matches as is evidenced by our undefeated state champion losing as well as our 4 timer. This was the first year of the HS duals. As for the tournament, the competition is much better. The brackets are a nice size and if Anderson plows through the backside, he will have gotton 9 matches to go with his 4 matches on Friday. We have some awesome match-ups today.

I count this trip a huge success already!

Good luck to our Kansas boys for putting in the extra time and effort to showcase some of our best in a national event.

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/21/11 11:30 PM

We have not heard yet about the team results yet but we expect to hear good news about our placement!

We placed 11 wresters in the top 6 and had six in the finals! Arriving in Denver on Thursday night, the team got a workout in at Lindsey Durlacher's gym. The whole weekend was a huge success. Our wrestlers got as many as 13 matches over three days!

At 152, 171 and 285 we had Kansas wrestlers facing each other in the finals. The wrestlers elected to forfeit the matches and head back to Kansas three hours earlier with school starting the next day. We drove back all night and arrived in Kansas City at 4am.

That was a BLAST!

Results:

103 - Hunter Price - 3rd
119 - Bo Newport - 5th
135 - Courtney Strauss - 6th
152 - Ryne Cokeley - 1st
152 - Chase Sanchez - 2nd*
160 - Drake Lovvorn - 4th
171 - Reece Wrigh-Conklin - 1st
171 - Taylor Baird - 3rd**
189 - Zach Anderson - 3rd - Went 8-1!
285 - Jesse Trent - 1st
285 - Eric Mason - 2nd*

*forfeited
**forfeited final and lost true 2nd challenge

Glad you posted about this. On our way home I was talking to Reece about the same subject. He had not stepped on the mat since state either. He also pulls zero weight. In my opinion Reece wins 10 out of 10 against Willie. He was never in danger of losing that match. Quality kid but not in Reece's class.

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/22/11 12:30 PM

looked to me like a dead even match until schwartzkopf gassed out and quit. good luck to both but to say either was going to win every match isnt even close to reality. they are pretty evenly matched and the best kid on that day won. season or not if you are going to compete be prepared to take your lumps.

Congrats to Reece!

Re: All-Class Dual Teams - 03/22/11 10:55 PM

Reece is a great young man and took my Freshman son (and the rest of the Frosh class) under his wing, as did all of the LHS upperclassmen. Garrett has a lot of respect for these guys and I am glad that he is grappling with this group of gladiators. Great coaching staff too which makes the transition from Middle School to High School even easier.

I second this statement!

It would be awesome to see the same type of participation and effort to get the participation for the junior and cadet duals. And then see the same kids go to FARGO, as these are the best tournaments you can go to while in high school.

Reece is only a junior so they wont meet at the college level next year but maybe the year after that.
