Leavenworth Challenger Tournament - 11/29/11 08:29 AM

I am curious when the brackets for this year will be posted for this on kansaswrestling.org. Does anyone have insight on this? Also wanting to know what wrestlers to keep an eye on at that tournament this weekend from those in the know. Perspective is greatly appreciated.

Kainisable,

I am currently working on a preview of the tourney. I have completed my research on ranked wrestlers and teams, so as soon as we receive all of the projected lineups from all the teams competing, I'll post it on this thread. I anticipate the preview post being Wednesday or Thursday of this week (waiting on 5 teams at the moment). Hope this helps...

Edit: For clarification, I will be posting the participating teams and the potential A pool brackets this week. I will update any scratches Saturday morning.

This is a round robin tournament with all wrestlers getting five matches. Upper level varsity wrestlers are split into an "A" pool and inexperienced varsity wrestlers are placed into a "B" pool. The bracket is in an excel format and I will post the placewinners on this forum at the conclusion of the tournament and send the bracket to Kramer so he can post it on the results page. Should be a fun day with some tough wrestling!

Dulgarian is the real deal. A Frosh Phenom for sure. That being said, Chandler Gordon for OE put on quite a show today. I would think that he should not just crack the top six at 6A 120, but probably be in the top half of the top six when the next rankings come out.

All individuals highlighted on the bracket injury defaulted at some point in the tournament.

Re: Leavenworth Challenger Tournament - 12/05/11 04:32 PM

Coach Johnston or anyone else that has knowledge of the situation is the young man from I believe from Ray Pec that was taken off on a stretcher alright? It seemed quite serious at the time and I haven't heard anything about it since. I certainly hope it was just precautionary measures and he turned out to be alright.

The coach emailed me and said the young man is doing fine, and it was mostly precauionary to take him to the hospital. He said the wrestler would be back to action soon had he not also torn ligaments in his thumb earlier in the match.
