did almageur beat shumate since the johnson county classic?
Posted By: elevate

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/19/06 06:47 PM

no almaguer and shumate have not wrestled since at olathe east regional ely held off a nice low single and flurry by almaguer late in the 3rd to hold onto a close 4-2 win match was very close to going to o.t or even a almaguer win with possible back point exposure close to being there for almaguer, credit ely did what he had to to win but both would have to wrestle much better to have a shot at beating shumate..

I'll predict 103, Goodwin wins it.

I'm trying to keep two boys away from each other this week on Crawford Street here in Wichita. So far my plan is not working too well.

Derby could end up in some heated semi matches: 103 and 119 come to mind.

I'll predict that someone on Crawford street wins it.

This question has been answered at least 5 times on these forums, some of which are still up and some that have been deleted. I am attaching the links if you are really interested do a check and find out. We both get tired of answering a question that has a very legitimate answer to it when we have answered it before.

Part of me says that you may know the answer to the qustion as well, especially since Crawford Street runs in various areas of Wichita, from North to South, and East and West which would include more than just South as the school.

Big Head lives in Montana and is a former state champion from South High School! Brian Scott.... He probably does not know why but I will straighten him out Mr. Furches since you are now my sons adopted father!

I am very sad to see the two boys are on the same side.... just adds to the point of my arguement that we need to at least seed the regional champs away from each other for state.

Good luck to both Dante and Nathan

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/20/06 03:26 AM

Big Head, will apologize for my post. I take Mike Church's word on the issue, didn't know you were legit, and lived in Montana. Short answer is that Dante moved into the community this last summer and wants to finish out his senior year where he started high school. Nathan's mom is a teacher in Derby. She got a teaching job after our first year in Kansas and our son was wrestling with the Derby Club at the time.

Good luck to both wrestlers this weekend. I didn't know their whole story. Got the full address off your web site. Just thought they'd both look good in red and blue.

What a good showing by the top teams.(not trying to snubbing the smaller teams) It's going to be a war for Team title. Good luck to all the teams & wrestlers.

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/21/06 05:55 AM

As with all State titles, the key is the points scored on the wrestle backs. The top wrestlers will take care of their positions/points, but how the 3rd through 6th placers fare will determine the title.

You might get your facts straight before you snap at a guy. I see you apologized later, but you should also apologize for saying Crawford runs north to south and east to west and covers more areas than just south. You would be entirely wrong. Do you just make stuff up and hope no one knows? Do some checking. Crawford Street only runs on the south side of town in Wichita and it goes from the 1100 block to around the 3000 block. Those homes are all in the South School district. Do some checking first before you lose all credibility.

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/21/06 11:43 PM

I am so pleased that you became a member today just to tell me that. I am so sorry for my mistake ol great 4mrWrstlr. Anything else I need to do to appease you?

Let me be the first to admit I am not a curator of maps and do not know my directions when it comes to going north or south. I learned by going right and left. Ask anyone that has given me those directions of going in one direction or another, even though I have lived here a few years, I still don’t get it. I do know that on my street, there are kids that go to Northwest, West, and South among other schools. Why that is I don’t know, I don’t bother to stick my nose too much in other peoples private business. I guess I just thought that maybe this area served more than one school. I did do some looking on a map, and you are correct. As far as I can tell Crawford runs from around Seneca to down near 235. Maybe I was thinking of Meridian which does run all over. Then again, like I said, not an expert on streets, I am an expert on something you forgot about. The question has been asked many times, and bighead and I have had several interactions since the post. I am also aware that I have made myself look foolish on here with a couple of thousand posts. Some people can accomplish the same thing with one or two posts.

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/21/06 11:58 PM

Great! You can answer one question for me. Why did you make a false statement like that? You talked in that e-mail like you knew everything about Wichita and this guy was an idiot. You talked like Crawford was Kellogg or 21st street or something like that. Did you really just make that up? Did you honestly think there were many Crawford's in Wichita? Anyway, just trying to figure out why some guy who claims to be a preacher would get on here and tell a bold faced lie that anyone with a map of Wichita or even the Internet for that matter could expose as false. I've perused these boards for a while and never had anything to add. I've seen you post a lot of useful information and usually you are very understanding and patient. Then I read this e-mail and it makes me wonder what that was all about.

I made a mistake, simple, not a lie, a mistake. A question I have for you, why such a big deal over a mistake, especially when Bighead and I have developed a pretty good relationship. It didn't offend him and he knew where I was coming from.
Posted By: Mike Furches

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/22/06 12:11 AM

What email are you talking about? Comments on these boards are not emails, they are posts, unless you are talking about a post I made, I have no idea what you are talking about. Regarding more than one Crawford, yes, I thought that it was like many other streets that run for awhile, stops, starts again, kind of like Meridian and others. Again, Bighead made comment to me that he understood my comments. Why did I respond like I did, simple, because people come on and say negative things, and have tried in the past to say negative things regarding my son and Dante not going to South, when there are valid reasons why they don't go there. That discussion has come up many times.

I don't usually comment on ridiculous posts, but to bring someone's faith into a discussion such as this is absolutely over the top. There is no reason or excuse to question Mike Furches' integrity or religious beliefs. So he made a mistake about the direction of a street/s. BIG DEAL!!!!!! This person did respond to the PM's and well, to say the least, we are all wasting our time. They have an inability to comprehend the things around them because their nose is so big they can't see beyond their own hypocrisy, much less read and understand the comments made here. Thank God, I nor others on these forums have to live up to their perception of righteousness. Of course, any of us could be so self righteous if we all hid behind a screen name.

125-Almageur
130-Moses
135-Traina
140-Hentzen
145-Thibault
152-Beard
160-Cotton
171-Kellerman
189-Metzger
215-Edison
275-Jesson

Goddard wins with BV Northwest and Maize and Derby real close behind them.

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/22/06 09:06 PM

I think the Team Championship will be close between Goddard & Derby with South & Manhattan battling for 3rd & 4th. Goddard & Derby have been close to each other all season & this is the healthiest Derby has been. So I look for it to be even closer than the other few times the two teams have squared off. Both teams, I think will have their Champions, so it will be the will of the back side of the bracket that will determine the Championship. Then I think there will be a pile of teams close, South, Manhattan, Garden City, BVNW, Hutch. Good Luck to All the Teams.
Posted By: JayHawkster

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/23/06 12:38 AM

Undertaker,

Maize close? Their taking 5 kids!! No way! BVNW is taking 12, BUT were killed in their own tourn by Goddard and haven't wrestled anywhere near the competition that Goddard has. Derby will be the only real challange. You also predicted 4 state champs for Goddard. That would absolutely seal the deal in itself!

I believe one year Manhattan had four champs and took third as a team. Four champs doesn't "absolutely seal the deal" The backside is where the team title is won. When we(manhattan) won the title in 03-04 we had 0 champions, but 8 medalists.

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/24/06 02:42 AM

You are correct, Pennywise. That year was in 1997, when Matt Bradshaw, Scott Coleman, A.J. Polansky and some fat clown won titles. Actually...I don't even think they placed that year. (But I'm not sure--I'm sure Sichard will correct me if I'm wrong.) I'm pretty sure they placed third the next year, with 3 champs, 1 second place and one third.

As far as team titles go, I think Hat Town's chances of placing was hurt by the loss of Wagner. Bummer.

Re: 6A State Predictions - 02/24/06 03:28 AM

Who was the fat clown? Matt Bradshaw and Scott Coleman were great wrestlers and I don't remember A.J. but I do remember 97 being a good year for Manhattan as it was for Wichita South. I beleive it will be a similar yr for both schools this yr.
