Throughout the year at various tournaments we've had some outstanding singers perform our National Anthem (then again, we've had some pretty sad renditions too...but that's another subject) I would like to suggest that instead of just having someone perform the National Anthem at our District competitions this weekend, that we encourage everyone to sing along. Not only should you STOP what you're doing, remove your hats, and show some respect to your country, (while making your children do the same!!!) I think it would be nice to sing along and show support for our military men & women! Perhaps someone could suggest this as they introduce the singer(s) this weekend? God Bless America!

Sounds like a very good idea to me. Its something we could do as wrestling families to show our support to our country!!! Our thoughts and prayers go out to all our soldiers and their families!!!

Thank you for this great Idea, I also think we should sing the National Anthem and show our respect to our country and to our troops fighting for our freedom. God bless this country and our Kids.

Wonderful suggestion! Rather than having our young wrestlers stand still while the National Anthem is sung, by involving them in singing our National Anthem it will help instill respect for our country and the soldiers who are defending our freedom. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Even better, let's all sing God Bless America. A lot of people don't really sing the Anthem because the vocal range is tough, but everybody likes to belt out "God Bless.."

I've attended the National Junior College Basketball Tournament the last two nights at Hutchinson which is sponsored by the American Legion and it is strange that they have to include the following: We would like to remind everyone that the proper way to honor the American Flag is to take off your hats and cover your heart and face the flag during the National Anthem. This is also preceeded with a prayer too!
