I am planning to take a group to the FILA Cadets in Akron, Ohio in April. This is the same FILA Cadet that has been held in Chicago but this year it has been moved. The dates are April 20-22, 2007. The ages are a little different than USA Wrestling Cadets. For FILA Cadet you are eligible if you were born in 1990, 1991 (or 1992 with doctors permission). (If you went w/ me to Schoolboy duals then you are eligible to go to FILA Cadets) The plans are just now being made but we will do like we did last year: fly out of Wichita and KC, meet at Akron airort, share the cost of rental van and hotel. I need to see how many people are interested in going. Send me an email at bdisney@cox.et if you want to go so I can start making plans. Who knows, if we get enough going we may be able to talk Coach Knox into going.

ASICS Men's FILA Cadet & University National Championships
Akron, OH
April 20-22, 2007
Division(s): University FILA Cadet
Style(s): Freestyle Greco
Venue: Athletics Field House, University of Akron

Randy - You would be a great addition. Plan on going. I don't know if the guys would want to go eat at Furrs at 4:00 p.m. like you AARP poeple do but we can all adjust.

I'm flexible ... make it Furr's at 4:30! That still puts me in bed by 6:30 or 7:00pm!!

I'm still pushing the FILA Cadet along w/ all the other FS/GR programs. Although FILA is for guys born in 1991 or 1990 most tournaments are for all high school wrestlers. We are planning a tough FS/GR schedule this year. FILA Cadet in Akron Ohio, Western Regional in Las Vegas, Cadet Duals in KC, Junior Duals in OKC, Southern Regionals in Hays and Fargo are some of the events that will be wrestled. Below is a list of guys I know have competed on a national basis in either FS or GR. If you have any questions about FS/GR then get w/ these guys and ask them. We have a good group already committed to going to Akron. BE PART OF IT.

Sharky Slyter 103 Paola
J Vesta 103 Manhattan
Collin Hase 112 Silver Lake
Colt Rogers 112 Smith Center
Alan Callahan 112 Baldwin
Zach Peters 112 Augusta
Stephen Santiago 112 Kapaun-Mt. Carmel
N Furches 112 Derby
Chaz Lawrence 112 Olathe South
John Hagan 119 Kapaun-Mt. Carmel
Connor McCarthy 119 St. Thomas Aquinas
K Maple 119 W Heights
Nathan McCormick 119 BVN
Cole Zogelman 125 Garden Plain
Trison Graham 125 Ark City
T Caldwell 125 Goddard
Jake Tanenbaum 125 Blue Valley North
Kevin Callahan 130 Baldwin
Matt Noblet 130 Paola
Aaron Ely 130 Leavenworth
C.J. Napier 135 Columbus
Aldon Isenberg 135 Gardner-Edgerton
Colby Crank 135 Hutchinson

I wish we were going but too old this year. Any word on any additional Fila events for older wrestlers.

I was wondering why I saw some of the names on there. Some of those guys have to be older.

I think Barry is just commenting on asking kids with National experience, I would agree. BTW Barry Congrats.

Aaron - some of these guys are too old for FILA Cadet. They will have to wrestle Juniors. What I want to do is get the name out of those guys who wrestle FS/GR so that others can ask them about it during the high school season. Once the high school season is over a lot of guys may hang it up for the year not knowing that there is a lot more out there. The guys I listed can let them know that not only is there a lot more out there but it is a lot of fun representing a State instead of just a high school.

The event flyer has now been posted. You can retrieve it at
http://www.themat.com/schedules.php?Cate...t=Sort+Schedule

We will be flying out of Wichita. Others from Kansas City. You should plan on arriving in Akron no later than 3:00 p.m. on the 19th. If you are going get ahold of me so we can start making reservations.

Remember this is for guys born in 1990 or 1991. Lots of college coaches will be there.

FILA Cadet is right around the corner. If you were born in 1990 or 1991 this is a "must go" event. Richard has provided the link the flyer and etc... above. You must register online. The online registration is due no later than April 17th at 5:00 p.m.. We have quite a few guys flying out of Wichita on April 19th and guys flying out of KC on April 19th. Everyone is arriving in Akron around noon. The flights home are all scheduled for after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

I would be glad to supervise any wrestler whose parents can't go. You just need to get ahold of me. bdisney@cox.net We have are up to about 10 wrestlers in the traveling party right now.

I know a lot of guys never knew about fs/greco growing up...it's more amazing now when I look at colleges that how many people don't know that much about divisions when it comes to wrestling like NAIA and NCAA DII and so on.

Randy -
My number one rule to the guys will be don't do anything Randy would do.

Sweazy -
Do you only take out of town trips when there are women involved? Why don't you go to Akron?

I've been to a lot of out of town trips with no girls involved...I just go on a lot more where there are, because I have a place to stay!

I will look at ticket prices, but not sure if I'm going to go to Akron...I wouldn't be able to fly until Friday morning the 20th(early) and have to return the 22nd anyway. Money is tight right now with being off work for nearly a month, but I love wrestling and will try to scrape money together. Plus I have to save money as I'm probably moving soon anyways (at least by October).
