Probably don't want to place 2nd,3rd or 4th at another regional at that weight! Might make for a tough first match at state!

Remember when it used to be that way 3-2-1A? I would venture to say over 50% of the state placers came out of NW regional, and probably 75% of those came out of NWKL (Sainty, Atwood, Oberlin, Norton, Hoxie, Oakley)

Ornelas won't see these two until State because Chanute attends the Caney Valley Regional.

If you want to start the argument of why one regional is tougher than another just look at the programs that are attending these regionals. Out west many of these schools have sponsored wrestling since its inception in the Dirty Thirties. There is a tradition in the communities of good wrestling. These schools have plenty of parent involvement so many of the wrestlers have been participating since they popped out of the womb. Many of the Kansas City area schools are newer schools in the past 20 years putting them behind the likes of Colby, Clay Center, Andale, Abilene, and Scott City. Schools in the southeast portion of the state like Columbus, Caney, and Chanute not only have something in common that thye start with a "C" but that much like the western Kansas schools they have a tradition. But then you get into the argument of why are schools like Wichita Independent so good they just started wrestling in the past 10 years. This is because they have excellent youth programs to draw from and a good coaching staff. It also doesn't hurt that the type of athlete they pull in have better resources(cash). I don't think it will be long before a program like St. James will also be seeing the same if not better success that Independent is starting to have.

I wrestled 171 last year and didn't qualify for state. i know a couple of kids out west did qualify for state that i beat. Would you rather Colby or Scott City travel to Spring Hill?

I think they would prefer it. Qualify more kids and pwn some noobs from the east. Plus, Scott City would have more chances to flaunt their trucker caps and unitards.

Well, i think as far as the "region" goes, it is split up well. Just from a traveling point. I also think there will be an eastern team make a lot of noise at state.

Well, I guess you can try to make that arguement to Wellington as they drive the nearly 5 hours to get to Ulysses. How many of those 'other' regional schools are sleeping in their own beds on Friday night? Meanwhile, some of those western schools will drive an hour to get to a Hotel Friday night.

There has got to be a better way...what it is, I have no idea.

I'll give ya a hint. I’m a famous stock car racer who enjoys dining at Applebee's with his family. Also likes to play with GI Joes in the jacuzzi. Who am I?
