You guys are pretty boring lately. Chew on this. District 2, regardless of number of clubs, is hands down, by far, the toughest district. This is proven each year at the state tournament. I'm not saying that there are not ages and weights where another district may be tougher, but overall it is the toughest. We had this discussion several years ago, but it has been a while. By the way the order of difficulty is:
2,3,1,4
Thanks and have a great day.

Just curious, what club was the overall state champion last year?

Good point Mr. Cokely. However, the previous two years, the top THREE teams were all from district 2. And in 2005 9 out of the top 13 teams were from district 2.

Furthermore, in a metro to metro dual, Wichita beats KC by 100 to 6.

I believe if you actually look at the facts. District 2 places more kids at state, followed by district 1, then 3, then 4.

Well, I notice that District 4 is unanimously picked as the weakest district. Being from Dist. 4 thats hard to swallow! But yes, I would give the nod to Dist. 2 for the overall toughest district on a cosistent basis. (Windjammer, numbers do matter however.) I can live with being in whats considered the "weakest" district though, it seems to turn around when it really matters - in High School. Those "weak" District 4 towns like Norton, Colby, Goodland, Hoxie, Scott City, Garden City, etc... sure seem to be pretty tough when it comes time to "step-up" from the kids programs!

Let us take it step beyond that: Akin, Douglas, Roberson, Bunch, Johnston, Gardner, all from District 1.

Moeder, I really don't think there is much separation between the other three districts. My point is that while some years you could switch around districts 3,4 and 1, District 2 always seems to be the toughest. There are some fantastic wrestlers from all of the districts. I can think of kids from all 4 who have placed very high at national level tournaments.
And I certainly agree that when it counts (high school and beyond) District 4 schools do very well.

You may be right, but District 1 has better looking women.

I would have to agree with Moeder. I too am from District 4, the so called weakest District. However if we take it even a step further, the college level, I find it interesting that if you check the juco national rankings, there seems to be several District 4 kids in the rankings. Also, Fort Hays States roster consists of excellent wrestlers from all the districts. And there too are All Americans from District 4.

I agree, Norton, Colby, Goodland, Hoxie, Scott City, Garden City, are all excellent programs year after year. Down years for these teams is still generally a top ten finish. I would however like you to elaborate on the etc. part.

Zahm Dad, I think Windjammer and Packerholic answered your question just as I would have. I didnt see any need to continue listing teams as I would think those I mentioned were enough to support my opinion, maybe not?

District 1, No particular order, and I am probably leaving someone out: Effingham, Silver Lake, Altamont-Labette County, Bonner Springs, Carbondale-Santa Fe Trail, Chanute, Columbus, Fort Scott, Garnett-Anderson County, Kansas City Turner, Lansing, St. Thomas Aquinas, Paola, Lawrence, Topeka, Olathe, Blue Valley, Shawnee Mission.
To get real technical we could probably list ranked wrestlers according to district.

Now that's more like it. Interestingly, if you go to the high school rankings there are 40 ranked teams in the four divisions. The number of top ten ranked teams from each kids club district are thus:
District 1 10 teams District 2 11 teams District 3 9 teams District 4 10 teams
with district 4 dominating 1A thru 4A. District 1 dominating 5A. District 2 dominating 6A and District 3 pretty evenly grouped from 3A thru 6A.
Now,if you would like, you may take up the age old argument of which High School Division is the toughest.

Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?
