I would just like to post in support of this camp. Coach Smith and his staff are great coaches, and sincerely want to make the wrestlers that attend his camps better, no matter what their level is. I have never been to a camp in which the coaches are so involved with the kids. This is not just a summer job for the athletes, they take it seriously! If you have a chance to attend, I would strongly recommend it!

Coach Shelton,
The brochure that you get with that link indicates 3 camps on the same week. One is in VC, one in Olathe Northwest and one in Florida. Do you have any idea which of their staff are committing to your camp?

In past years, Head Coach Brian Smith comes for the first three days of the camp. He gets things started and teaches for those days. On Thursday, Bart Horton and Kevin Stanley arrive for the last two days of camp. They teach for the last day and a half and then run the "takedown tournament" on Friday afternoon. In addition, there are usually have about 5-6 current wrestlers teaching as well. Whichever wrestlers make the trip stay for the entire week.

All the coaches will be here ovet the course of the week.

I went to this camp last year and learned a ton of stuff. The coaches are mean and to the point which is what I like. Also, they bring their frickin' studs from Missouri to show you the ropes. I made friends with some of the guys on their team and got to keep up with their performances throughout the year. Excellent camp with an excellent recommendation from The Computerized Shoes!

Coach Shelton,
I just signed my son up for your camp 30 minutes ago and then opened my mail to discover that KMC football camp - that has ALWAYS been the last week in July - is now June 6-10. Will he miss too much to come late to your camp? Is that acceptable? FB camp gets out at 10:00am

They do a lot of work that builds up to the last few days. Missouri has a complete system of wrestling that they teach in sections and then put it together. It's tough because it isn't straight up Kansas wrestling but very informative. Everyone should go...I'm going and I won't even be in High School. Word!

CrusaderFan,

The camp is great. You will miss some of the technique but will reeieve a ton of instruction. In past years they have pro-rated the cost depending on how much time you will be missing.

They are great coaches and easy to talk to. I am sure they will accommodate you any way you request.

Let me know if I can help. Hope to see you at the camp.

Talked to the coaches at Missouri yesterday and they are excited. They have had good response from the Kansas wrestling community and think it should be the largest camp yet.

If anyone out ther has any questions about the camp, facilities, age groups or schedule please contact me anytime.

Wish this was at a different time and date, it runs the same time as the Southern Plains camp for Kids and Cadets.

This has always been a problem.

I have talked to the guys from Missouri about this and they can't change the dates because it would conflict with other camps they are hosting.

As long as kids are competing somewhere it is a good thing. Maybe another time.

I have heard nothing but positive things about this camp, and have the deapest amount of respect for the Missouri program. For those sticking around town, especially in the Wichita area, I would encourage you to check out the camp. Go, have fun, learn and get better.

Talked to the coaching staff last night and they have the largest number of pre-registered campers of any year. This looks to be the biggest and best camp ever.

It is not to late to sign up either on-line or the day of the camp. We start next Monday morning at 9:00. If you are planning on signing up the morning of the camp be there a little early, about 8:30.

Hope to see several of you there. Call if you have questions.
