yeah, marrs beat plattyner earlier this year at rossville, but this time he was much less aggressive in the match. jake is weighing around 192 or so, so he's usually giving up 20 lbs to most of the guys that he wrestles. not to take anything away from plattyner though, he wrestled a great match and should pretty much be a shoe-in for a state title in 321a.

Maybe you're not an ugly human, but a good looking ape.....with exceptional verbal skills.

I did hear that he was giving up weight and I think that is showing what team is all about. Plus brotherhood if I thinking right. I know that Jacob could have wrestled 189 easily but with his brother at 189 it was best for the team he be at 215. I was wondering if he was to win state and get to go to Nationals if he would drop the weight and wrestle his normal weight class.

I am still suprised that even though he gave up the weight he got beat in the finals. I think he has the skills and the strength to dominate in any weight class he wants. Alot like the grater kid-

Anywho- good luck to all

He won't be able to drop a weight class. At Senior Nationals this year, you must wrestle the weight class you wrestled at during your senior year at the State Tournament.

I believe his Coach said his weight was around 205 or so and yes he is tough but he was also undefeated at 215 until he wrestled Allyn. It was a good match and was one of the best in the finals at Beloit. Marrs is a great kid and will go be a state champ. Allyn is improving everyday and is working towards a state title after being a runner-up last year. Allyn's two losses this year are to Marrs and to Jesse Strahm from Holton also a returning 4a runner-up

Thank you- I wasn't sure if that was the case or not. I am not even sure it wouold help him but some had said he was underweight and should be wrestling 189. He is a great wrestler no doubt about that-

I would like to hear a little about the actual match. I don't recall seeing Allyn wrestle before but I have seen Marrs. I can't imagine that anyone dominated Marrs. What was the score before the pin? Will these two see each other again this year. Sounds like great wrestling.

Marrs was just gased. He hasn't had that many matches go the distance this year. Maybe like 3. I believe the score was something like 10-10. somewhere around that.

They went the distance in Rossville tourney with Marrs winning 12-8 and it was close until Marrs hit a takedown to go up by four in the 3rd. In this match Allyn was much more aggressive and used his weight advantage every time Marrs shot in Allyn would lay all his weight on his head and try to spin behind. Marrs and Allyn will not see each other any mroe this year. It was a great match especially for two supposedly "fatties" who moved and were aggessive the entire match. In the end Marrs was very tired although he fought for the entire match until he was pinned.
Marrs will be on a mission now I am sure, and it gave Allyn a big boost to finish the year. best of luck to Jacob for the rest of the year.

Chewie, what you stated is why I have always advocated that wrestlers shouldn't try to pin their opponents in the first and second period. I always tell kids they should wrestle the whole 6 minutes that way when they come up against a good oppoenent they won't be gassing. Now days everyone is going for pin records and fastest falls.

You have never seen Marrs get dominated did you watch him in the summer wrestling stuff? I dont even think that he won the state tournament. Some chump beat him in the finals if I remember correctly.

I can not keep up with all the names just know that person knows me and I do not know them. So, I took a guess. One the other hand it was good to see you at Beloit. You are no longer "Slim Shady" in my eyes fris, keep working hard!

I weigh 190-195. That doesn't matter what matters is I wrestle 215. Allyn wrestled much better this time and he obviously was more focused than I was. I'll have my head on straight from now on. Congrats Allyn and best of luck the rest of the year.

A classy post, Mr. Marrs. I have noticed the success of a wrestler is indirectly proportional to the number of posts he/she makes on this website. You have a very limited number of posts. So by definition, you will be granted much success this year.

Stay Classy, San Diego.
