Salyer what place did you get in State when you were in High School? How many times did you qualify?

And bringing up the whole Colby regional thing, it was probably the weakest regional in 4A this year.... Just think how bad the weakest regional in 5A and 6A would be???

each regional has it's strength's and weaknesses, 103, 160i think were the strongest ones in our regional. A regional doesn't capture 33% or (1/3) of the medals possible at state per weight class and be the weakest, there were some weak weights yes, but stronger at others. But I must agree that it is still stronger than most 5/6A regionals

Look at the Rose Hill tournament...one of the toughest tournaments, where 5 4A teams placed top 10, where Valley Center took 7th...Columbus, Andale, Fort Scott all placed ahead of them. Only 2 6A schools and 2 5A schools placed top ten there...

But thats not a reasonable comparison because it isn't our regional.

LoveToWrestle-

I think you're on the right track there, but I would like to see some more facts and figures rather than just words, which you provided some but not enough. And right now we're proving the worth of the Colby regional, as it was the "weakest" also as implied it wouldn't compare to a 5/6A regional.

Well for instance, in the lower weights, the Rose Hill regional was stacked... 103-140 were crazy, I wrestled there, and one of my team mates who went to state last year who is very good, just happened to get stuck in probably one of the hardest brackets in all of the regionals. The upper weights weren't quite so tough there. I'm not too familiar with the upper weights past 160, so don't know how hard all the other regionals were from that weight and on.

Maybe that guy that guy with a 31-5 record choked. But at least he didn't choke at state, right Salyer.

You can say that Chenoweth choked at state, but as you pointed out, he's lost one match outside of state the last three years. And this would be a lineup made for out of the state tournament purposes, so he would be a good pick. Doesn't lose outside of the state tournament.

God, quit whining Curtis. You were a stud but you didn't win a title, and that's the largest determining factor in who wins these awards. Jonas should be picked in front of you.

Secondly, it can be said that you "choked" your sophmore and junior years. Either that or you had an inflated record. But hey, it's not going to change if you keep whining about it every time someone tells you that you choked. So get over it. And your senior year you hardly choked in losing to Taplin and if I remember correctly you beat Eden who's pretty good in his own right.

I guess what I'm trying to say is stop being so offended by a menial post on a message board. It's not a big deal and the fact that you keep saying little things in your posts to Mr. Salyer shows that you're making it into a way bigger deal than it should be. The fact that you lost at state doesn't mean you're not a talented wrestler, because I think we all know that you are.

Still, as Mr. Salyer has said, two state titles supersede anything you have done in terms of earning these awards and rightfully so, seeing as how a state title is the most prestigious tournament win in the state.

I don't care if a wrestler says I choked. Coming from you, an actual wrestler, it doesn't bother me at all. But coming from Salyer, its a little annoying. And him making himself out to be the all knowing wrestling guru is getting a little old, considering I can't find anything that says he was a wrestler himself. And I'm not really whining, I'm being more of a smart***.

LancerM, just to take it from Curtis's point of view, would you find it an attack on you if all anyone said to you was that you choked all the years in high school and that you didn't deserve anything? A wrestler's criticism is different than that of an older person who has not wrestled for 20+ years and still tries to find glory in something he himself never accomplished. All I'm saying is try to see where Curtis is comming from, have you read 1 post saying that he didn't choke?

My vote is for Chenoweth. I am suprised no one has brought up the fact that Salyer transfered his boys out of 4A, into easier classes, so they could qualify for state.
