I was wondering if anyone could answer my question about an ejection of a high school coach during a meet.

I was at a double dual meet last week and one match got very heated and a coach was ejected. What are the rules for the ejection of a coach?

Are they the same as kids rule, out for so long, or what?

If anyone could answer my question, it would be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer your question, but I have found a definitive way to get tossed out of a meet.

First, say to the referee, "Can you throw me out of the meet for what I am thinking?"

after he says "no"

then say, "I think you are the worst referee in the history of the sport."

for whatever reason, they always go back on their word and toss me out.

If a coach is ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct such as yelling at the official, verbally or physically absusing etc. etc. He is ejected for the remainder of the event. If it is a two day tournament he/she is not allowed to return the second day.

However if the coach is ejected for misconduct ( aproaching the table and questioning judgement calls where no change of decision is awarded ) The it is only for the current day competition. Meaning he can return to the competition the next day if there is one.

KSHSAA has differnt policies regarding coaches punishments for ejected coaches, and it depends on the severity of the offense. An ejection form should be sent to KSHSAA and if they will determine the severity and dole out punishment as needed. If that could include an additional suspension as well.

Ejected coaches are punished by their administrators as is with other infraction situations,...WITH acceptance from "the powers".

I was trying to think of when if ever, that I have witnessed an ejection of a coach, in all my years. I don't believe I ever have. I've seen many team points taken but never an ejection.

I know people that have been at tournaments that referee's have been ejected...now that's even rarer I would say.

Last year at the Liberal Tournament - a coach was ejected on Friday and not allowed back on Saturday.

If I remember correctly the coach attempted to enter the gym the next day and was asked to leave.

"referee's have been ejected"

Who ejected the referee?

I don't remember what tournament it was at, but I was talking with the assistant middle school coach at Chapman. He said he was at a tournament where the calls were so bad that numerous coaches complained and apparently the tournament director told the guy that "they had enough guys to cover the tournament and he should leave"

Aaron I remember that and I can't remember who it was but I know the guy. And when I got told the story I just laughed because it soudned about right. I have seen an official get ejected from a kids tournament. The official whom I won't name brought his kid with him and was coaching him in between officiating. He just happened to disagree with the call on the mat, made a big seen, said the wrong words, and the official on the mat tossed him. What was dumb about it was he was an official and he should have known that he wasn't going to get a judgement call changed.

I was at a mini-wrestling tournament a couple of years ago where the head official who was coaching his own son, was ejected.

Observed a coach getting the heave-ho from the GC Invite in the mid 80's--same coach, two different years. Also observed it at the Marysville Tournament in either 96 or 97. In around 97 or 98 a coach was dismissed from the 3-2-1A State Tournament by the KSHSAA administrator in charge; official reason, I think, was his having tobacco.

I think that you can also add the High School Nationals to that list. I know exactly who you are talking about. He's a good coach...just a little too intense for most officials. When he got tossed at Nationals, he tried to walk away several times from the official, but the official kept following and talking. I could see that one coming, and I do not think that it was the coach's fault.

The Mission Valley coach was ejected from the state tournament a few years ago supposedly for having a chew in. That was the official reason anyway. A lot of people thought it was payback because he allowed his wrestler (Dykstra) to injury default a match and get a free ride to the finals after his opponent was called for an illegal cross-face.

I remember the Atchison coach being tossed out at the Hoyt-Royal Valley Regional 3 years ago.... remember that one coach... In fairness, Jake Weishar did get a bum deal on a bad call. Dont remember exactly what it was, but I'm sure one of the Atchison coachs will read this and fill us in..I have never before, or since then, seen him come anywhere close to as upset as he was that time.

When I was just starting out in coaching, I remember a Coach at the State Tournament who was penalized point. His response was go ahead and take one, I don't have any. Before the ordeal was over, he was gone and his team finished with a negative score.
You will have to search the records to find out when it happened and who it was. He turned out to be a great Coach here in Kansas on all levels and produced many Champions. He's a good friend and will probably get a laugh about someone remembering his early days of Coaching.

Check out Sunflower League. There is a good chance a coach gets bounced out of that tournament. I have seen it twice in the last 5 years

I wished sometimes that I had been ejected *L*

number of reasons- one being a long day with a bunch of wrestlers not caring enough to give it their all and other reasons like an official making a really poor judgement call and having the gull to tell me that is the way it is before I even argue *L*

but instead of standing up and being a man and doing the right thing for my wrestle I put my head between my tail and hide for 10 minutes or until I have calmed down *S*

You know this is strange but I have never been ejected, although like Scooby sometimes I wish I had been. Nothin worse than to rip an officials rearend only for him to still be respectfull after the fact. Course I also think officials must have armadillo hide or they wouldn't be officials in the first place. On another note when my son was in the jr. leagues I would never allow him to act like me. lol.
