Sometimes we have to take responsibility for our actions, I am now doing so. I just finished deleting the thread regarding a kids match at state. Truth is, likely enough was said on this and I feel that the thread should have been deleted earlier. The decision to delete the thread is mine, no one else. I likely could have spoken to Randy more about it, and for those that think I should have, blast away.
Here is my reasoning though. I don’t know what more could have been gained by talking about these two boys, their clubs, and their coaches enough has already been said. I thought, and still do think there were several aspects related to the match that was worthy of discussion. Hands to the face rule, biting rule, and a number of other things. All of those things can still be discussed, along with officiating or any number of things related to the types of things that appeared to go on in that particular match.
I am reminded though, these are young, young men, who will make mistakes. Let them learn from the mistakes without those mistakes being a part of the daily discussion on these boards.
I must also say something else, I think the overwhelming majority of posts on that thread, at least as I saw them, seemed to be respectful. That said, I compliment those who have had great and honest intentions. I also think though as mentioned before, it is a close line as to what is and is not appropriate in regards to a kids wrestler.
Again, I stand behind making the decision. I personally wish these two young men the best of luck in the future as they have a promising one. Anyone wanting to blast away at me for the decision go for it, but it is one of those tough decisions, and admittedly, possibly a wrong decision, that moderators sometimes have to make.
For those who disagree, I ask you to put your child in the place of these two. I have tried to do that, if lessons were to be learned, I think these two are quality enough young men to have learned those lessons without the "discussion" continuing.
