Took this data from the 10 FEB 5A Rankings. Sorry it is so long. Hope I got all of the fingerdrill right.
Commments. 1--Probably do not want to be in the ARK City Regional--Loaded. 2--Some shifting in Overland Park/NE regional assignments due to 1 new HS (BV SW) and re-class of Still BV from 6A to 5A. 3--Lansing moved to Topeka area regional due to re-class of Bonner Springs from 5A to 4A. 4--Think you will see a lot of byes in both the OP and Topeka Regionals---KC HS short rosters, I saw Topeka West a couple of weeks ago at a dual and they had only 5 or 6 wrestlers--plus I doubt if any HS will come fullup, unless the fill with JVs in short brackets. 5. Hope the NE regionals are not a repeat of 2 years ago when the KC area regional qualified wrestlers TO State who did not have a win at region.

I don't know what the big deal is. This regional is weak compared to years past. Toughest Regional hands down any class. It is what it is. To those schools north of Wichita, good luck.

I am sure that Lansing, Sh Heights, Newton, Gardner-Edgerton (north of Wichita at last look) appreciate your wishes of good luck! It is going to be a very tight team race!

Does anyone know about contacting Hartman Arena about the 5A tournament? I have tried their website "contact us" link, but keep getting an error message that the Security Code does not match (it does); no name entered (it is); no email address entered (it is entered). When will tickets be available? Any other information will be appreciated.

Hartman - will they employ the cooler security nazi's like Intrust did? I would doubt very seriously if the general public will be allowed to bring coolers in. Show me an arena that allows you to bring your own refreshments? Kinda defeats the purpose of having concessions.

They didn't check bags at the Park city classic last year. But that's not to say they won't. Please post when you get an answer.

The 6A Campus regional has 34 ranked wrestlers! Thanks for the info because I was going to ask about that. You know I thought about that and have already stated in previous posts that there will be kids good enough to place at state that won't make it out of Campus. This will also be the case of course at Ark City. Best wishes to all and to all a good day.

It happens every year, some quality wrestler does not qualify when others from a different regional that they beat during the season qualifies for state.
Four years ago, freshman Chase Sanchez, Emporia, did not qualify for state at 130. The top four repeated the next week at state. Graham, Mertins, Mainz and Pittsburg stud. (cant remember his name at moment)
It happened the next year to Hoover from Salina South.
Last year it happened to Zack Litvack at 130 where the top four in his region were in the semi finals the next week at state.
Here is the kicker: I bet if you asked those young men what was the result of that experience, they would say "being left out made them work their butt off to make sure that did not happen again and in the end it made them better wrestlers".
I love the sport of wrestling for that very reason!
The older I get the better I was!

True dat, obviously I know that because that is pretty much the point that I have been making with several previous posts. But an added point is that it can happen just as easily in an 8 man regional as it can in a 16 man regional especially when the regionals are not balanced. And 6A is the worst when it comes to unbalanced regionals. And I love the sport of wrestling for several reason but not necessarily that one. Yes, I love it when a kid is hungrier, etc. because he didn't make it to state, but I don't love it at all when a kid that should be at state is not at state because the regionals are not balanced. To me, that's getting "screwed". The best kids should be at state and the regionals need to be balanced for that to happen. But they are regionals aren't they.

I love wrestling for the many ways it teaches young men to overcome adversity. The way "regional tournaments" are assigned are ONE of those adversities!

Yes, point well taken. And I guess if it don't kill them, it should make them stronger. Good Day.
