I don't know Blackwell at 152. I am just curious as to why he is above Millsap? I wonder if they will get to wrestle each other this year. I know they are in different classification 4a vs 6a. Maybe at Newton?

Blackwell is a 3X state placer and 1Xchamp. I believe he placed 2nd in the other years. He lost a close match to Pittsburg's repeat champ Seybold 2-1 last year at 145 in 4A. I've seen both wrestle several times in the past couple years, it would be a great match for sure!

There is a possiblity of a Blackwell/Millsap match-up at the Bobcat. Blackwell is a 3X finalist, 1X champ. They have wrestled a couple times in freestyle, with Jonathan winning both. I'm am Blackwell's high school coach, but have had the opportunity to work with Millsap the last couple summers. I really like the way he competes, and have much respect for him.

I now know why one is ranked ahead of the other. Impressive! Thanks for informing me.

Believe Jack Mitchell of Shawnee Mission East could beat some of them as well. He looks real good right now and has always been tough.
Believe Davis Matthews of Manhattan should be ranked at 145. Again, based on matchups with my son, he could beat half of those 145 pounders. At 138 where he was ranked earlier, I say he could win 6A state, but don't think he could make the weight.

1. Can't see that with Maki right now. Ball is nails tough and Hensley is above him.
2. Dane Edwards put in a full and impressive summer. That ranking call at 138 is on me.
3. I just fixed 152. It had not been updated yet. Helms does deserve to be ranked there.
4. I answered the Matthews and Mitchell decisions on the 6A thread.

Good talking with you X!

Yes Chief, always good corresponding with you about the rankings and all things wrestling related.
Keep up the great work!

Boy Howdy, I sure love seeing all those 5A teams in the rankings, the 6A teams as well.

4 of which were in 4a within the last few years!!!

No doubt 5a is super tough, and the rest of the classes are down big time.

Well I hope you are not counting VC in that because they have always been 5A, even when people smack talked 5A. They were in 4A one year. When STA won state they were in 5A. AC was briefly right after Andover split but Andover was always in 5A. The only one I consider from 4A is SJA. I get what you are trying to imply doug747 but you are digging big time there. 5A has always been tough, at least for the last 20 years it has been, maybe even longer. We just now have an "All-Class Ranking" to magnify it.

All the ALL CLASS means for most is speculation as most ranked kids here will not have the opportunity to wrestle the others in their weights because of the tournaments their schools are booked in. As a rule the larger schools get "favortisim" over the smaller schools. Generaly speaking because I have only been to 2 tournaments this year, the overall talent is lower than normal this year as alot of quality kids graduated with none to replace them. Also, Chief uses summer wrestling in the other styles when ranking wrestlers and the further West you get in the state the harder it is to make the commitment to the "National" events. Be it farm or travel time or whatever.
