3 Reasons we fail in wrestling:

1. No System: In baseball, we have 3 moves (catch / throw / hit), while in wrestling we have 1,000s. Since 90% of your points come from just 10% of the wrestling, it is best to focus ONLY on that. Once you are ranked nationally as a high school wrestle, then you can worry about the minor tricks. Get organized. Do not deviate from THE PLAN. Fish only in productive waters.
2. Worrying Only About Training Partners: You can get really good at really bad wrestling. It happens all the time. The athletes that you watch wrestling on ESPN are very skilled and they drill, drill, drill. Instead of bouncing around from team to team in search of great workout partners, I say you become one and let the kids come to you.
3. Weaknesses: It is important the wrestler write down their top 3 weaknesses and attack those. Too often we think the coach is responsible for all of your success. Your teacher can’t make you smart. Your boss can’t make you rich. And your coaches can’t make you a great wrestler.
Good luck!
