That is up to your HS federation. They are welcome on our end and we have had a few over the years but they ran into some eligibility issues with their own state.

Are HS wrestlers NOT allowed to participate in this event? Wasn’t it formerly an open? Wondering why you wouldn’t want them?

Thanks

Oldfan,
Not technically true. A wrestler may forgo the first week of practice. This means no alpha weigh-in, no meetings, etc. Wrestle in the CK Kickoff and then go out the following Monday. This would be THE BEST tournament a FR or SO,who has the correct birthday, to compete in. If I were a coach I would encourage this for those who have a preseason workout routine or club they can work with.

I have thick skin so here goes! ANOTHER STUPID RULE that needs to go away! Who cares if wrestlers compete outside of a HS sanctioned tournament! Especially before official competitions can begin and for sure during MS or JH season. The rule doesn't make sense. Just another control mechanism. Write your AD a letter. Go ahead and copy your local KS legislater. It is time to make the KSHSAA Handbook much thinner by eliminating rules that have no merit!
