Re: 8 & under 49 - 03/24/08 02:17 AM

he looks to be very strong, stud is right. He may be the one at state. anyone from the other districts that may give him a tough time?

Ouch..I just bit my tongue.

It's hard sometimes to read these posts and tell if someone is being sarcastic, condescending etc. or not... I didn't mean to come across that way. I was just curious who you were.

I think Dylan has about as good a chance as anyone. Every kid who qualified has the same mission in mind.

I think Deshazer has beat Dryden 3 times this year, and Dryden has beat Deshazer twice. I watched them wrestle in the Finals at the Classic and it was one of the best matches I have ever seen. Dryden won 2-1 I think.

Re: 8 & under 49 - 03/24/08 02:33 AM

Thanks, im just curious to find out the comp for this division. this is our first year wrestling and my son is 8 & under 49. because he is in his first year and so we were wanting to know who was tough in other divisions, we are in division 2

sims from the greater gold is pretty good to...

Re: 8 & under 49 - 03/24/08 11:03 AM

Just to help out...Deshazer is 8 years old. I also believe that Dryden and Deshazer are dead even 3-3 this year. They are both great competitors and should be an exciting finals match. Hitchcock and Sims will be in the mix for sure.

I hear that paul kid is the one to watch.

Rhyker Sims has a good chance. He & Paul Stuart go at it at state in there first match, should be a good one.

Dryden has a 4-3 advantage over Deshazer this year winning @ CK Kickoff, Salina, Winfield, Park City-Wichita Classic.

Logan Roether i think will be in the mix to. I think there is going to be some upsets in this bracket this weekend cant wait for it to get started.

Kmac, you are correct. I forgot about the match at Salina.

Looking over the Bracket...here are my favorites.

In Alphabetical Order:

Deshazer
Dryden
Hitchcock
These Three are a lock for the top 3 in my opinion.

Others to watch:

Becker
Duncan
Sims
Stuart

I'm not saying the rest don't have a chance...these are the ones that I've seen wrestle this year.

I watched D Pelland win at the Great Bend and also saw him beat Sims at District Saturday. I wouldn't bet against him! Good luck Coach Greg!

Nice touch with the "Alphabetical order" bit Beeson.

Re: 8 & under 49 - 03/24/08 09:56 PM

Sorry, I was thinking of a totally different kid than Deshazer. Although the kid I was thinking about is 5 yrs old and wrestles at 49lbs. Duwayne Villalpando is the young stud I was thinking about. My Bad....

Re: 8 & under 49 - 03/25/08 02:01 PM

CW BUOY - I don't know the kid you are talking about personally, but if he's that studly why wouldn't he be entered in 8&U Subs, Dists & State? Just a question...

Something we all need to think about when we throw names around is that it is the kid then that has to back it up - not the adults!!!

Re: 8 & under 49 - 03/25/08 02:58 PM

the kid has nothing to prove. he is just a kid wrestling and having fun. if the parent puts his name out there then its on the parent but i think we need not to say the kid has to back it up. the kid might be a 5 year old stud. nothing wrong with saying that. he may not be 8 year old ready yet but that doesnt mean he isnt a stud among the 5 year olds.

Re: 8 & under 49 - 03/25/08 03:26 PM

Good point about stud among 5 year olds bockman.
He wrestled at 6 and under state. My little boy had the opportunity to wrestle the 5 year old from TOHK in the first round at Ottawa and he is undoubtly a very impressive wrestler. I was told this was a first year of wrestling by one of their coaches. The little guy didn't place this time but he made a believer out of me. I believe he will do extremely well next year, 6 and under or 8 and under!

My favorite might be Cody Phippen. However I might have some bias. He wrestled great this past weekend beating Tanner Duncan and losing to Hitchcock 2-0.
