Matt Noblet - 01/25/09 01:24 PM
I wanted to post something on the kids forum regarding the passing of Matt Noblet. If you go to the high school forums you can read the story.
I'm not sure how many of you knew Matt, who graduated last year from high school, but we've known him since he was a little kid wrestling for Paola Kids Wrestling Club. Matt was a great competitor who was gracious whether he won or lost (and he didn't lose many!).
I have a son who is the same age as Matt and as he left to go back to college in Parsons yesterday, it was hard not to worry (even more) that in the blink of an eye he could be taken away as well. It also puts into perspective that winning 1st place at a kids tournament, whether or not you think your kid didn't get enough back points, coaches coming to the middle of the mat to yell at each other over a match, getting into an argument about coaches taking a knee in front, is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Prayers from the STA Wrestling Club go out to the Noblet family.
