Does anyone know if someone is putting a team/teams together for this. The link is below.

Heartland USA Elementary National folkstyle duals 2009
Good competition and close to home. I know AAU does this in Tennessee and gets like 30 teams.

Sounds like things are getting put together.

Team Illinois is planning on coming. Iowa is trying to put something together as well as Kansas, SD and ND. Nebraska will have 3 teams competing.

Any of you guys have connections down in Oklahoma? Maybe try and contact them, I'm getting no responses.

It looks like we have enough wrestlers interested, and people that would help, is there anyone that will take the lead and take on putting things together? I know that sounds bold and I should be stepping up, but this is the worst time of the year at my work. I could go and even drive if needed.

So is Kansas still working on teams for this event. Minnesota is bringing 2 teams and so is North Dakota. Nebraska will have 3 teams and Illinois is bringing 1 team. Oklahoma is bringing 1 team. Iowa and missouri still working on a team a piece.

Sure hope Kansa can put it together. Not far from home for a national dual tournament run by USA wrestling

Kansas could put together a heck of a team. Christian Bowen's dad was talking about it with me, and I know he wants to see it happen. They have to be no older than 6 th grade I believe. Off the top of my head, and these are only kids that I've seen do well in the tourneys I've been at. I'm sure I've missed plenty of kids that may be as good or better:

With the popularity of the Middle School duals, someone needs to take this and run with it and make it a yearly thing as well. Any of these dads want to put it together?

I would say do it like they do for middle school duals. State placing is priority, 12u placing means more than 10u placing, unless they've met head to head. Then 6th grade gets priority, etc. We should obligate ourselves to put together the BEST team that Kansas can offer. I would say to have people start copying and pasting my "lineup" and adding kids taht might fit in those weights, so whomever puts it together can have a starting point for recruiting kids for it.

We are in if it get's put togather, but Mason will have to go 55, finally got a couple pounds on him and don't want to take it off, lol. Brawlers know how to get a hold of me, and if you need any help , just let me know.

I've been told that Dal Eck and Klaus Schmidt are meeting at 5:00 tonight to go over what needs to be done. I would say to send me a private message and I'll forward them to Dal and Klaus. I can email you the forms if you leave your email, and I'll forward your kids' name, grade, and weight to them so they can get the team picked. I am assuming they will go off of head to head, state placing, etc. Probably the easiest thing would be for all interested kids to send me their email, name, grade, and weight, and they can put all the names on a list, then pick the team, and collect the signup forms after the team is picked. Probably going to have to get teams picked by end of week so they can have time to make travel plans, meeting spots for those not in Wichita area, etc.

Below are the weights for the Elementary School Duals in Nebraska. Especially in the upper weights, is there any of the kids that are in 12u that are still 6th grade or younger? Tommy Marquez at 140 is still a 6th grader. Please give your input on who we need to pursue to be on that team at each weight.

50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 120, 130, and 140.

It is true that Dal Eck, Chris Bowen and Klaus Schmidt are meeting tonight at 5:00 to discuss putting at least one team together for this event. We hope to have a per kid cost to attend this figured out in the next day or so. I assume it will be similar to the Middle School Duals cost ($275.00) which will include entry fee,Team Kansas singlet,t-shirt and shorts,travel and hotels.

Anyone interested should email dal@matteck.com with their kids age,weight and accomplishments. We will be getting the neccessary forms, etc put together as well and should be ready to send them out tomorrow.

Here are some additional details for the Elementary Duals. Cost per kid will be $275.00. That includes a Team Kansas singlet,shorts and t-shirt - transportation to and from Lawrence, 2 nights hotel rooms and entry fee.

The deadline to sign up is Thursday April 2nd at 8:00 pm. I need to know who all is going by then. You can complete the paperwork and make arrangements to get me the money shortly thereafter. I will be posting a link to the neccessary paperwork on Wednesday morning.

We will for sure have a great 1st team and it looks like we will have plenty for a real good 2nd team. If we get enough interest, we can take a 3rd team.

Quick question for you. I noticed a few of these kids are also on the list to wrestle for the Middle School National Duals team. Do they just have to meet a certain age criteria for each competition? From what I can see, a 6th grader can wrestle in both. Just curious.

Yes, a 6th grader can wrestle in both. However, we have mostly 7th and 8th graders on the Middle School teams.

Thank you Dal,

I figured that must be the case. At first I saw one wrestler listed on both threads (he'll be wrestling Jr High with my son this fall/winter), then I looked again and saw at least two other wrestlers that were on both rosters.

There are still rooms available. If any parents want to stay in the same hotel as the team, call and make reservations.

We still need a 112 and 120 lber for team one.

We lost several wrestlers this morning on team two so we now need - 70, 90, 100, 105, 112, 120, 130 lbers.

I need to order singlets, shorts and shirts Friday (tomorrow) morning. If we don't get more interest by this evening, we will be taking just the one team.

I know it was short notice this year. Next year we will get an earlier start.

We have lost a couple more wrestlers, so Team Kansas will have only one team going to the Elementary Duals. Thanks to all who showed interest. Like I said before, next year we will get started early and should be able to send multiple teams.

If you need the forms, they are available in the calender section of this site under Elementary Duals.

We will be leaving Thursday at 1:00 from Will Cokeley's Autoexchange in Lawrence. The address is 1225 E. 23rd Street. Please be there at 12:30 so we have time to get loaded up and be on the road by 1:00. We will be taking two large vans. Each kid will be assigned to one of the two vans and they will be expected to ride in their assigned van during travel for the entire trip. I have 5 dads who will help with the chaparoning, driving, etc. We will assign 4 kids per hotel room. We will pass out the singlets, shorts and shirts once we arrive in Fremont. Weigh in is from 5:00 to 8:00 Thursday night. After weighin, we will go eat.

The kids should only need money for food at lunch and dinner. The hotel has a good continental breakfast that includes hot items - biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, eggs.

I will see everyone tomorrow at 12:30 at Will Cokeley's Autoexchange - 1225 E 23rd in Lawrence. We will leave at 1:00. I will have van and room assignment sheets to pass out then. Please bring a singlet to weigh in. We may not have time to pass out the singlets, shorts and t-shirts before weigh-in.
