How Many Super Brackets are there. - 03/11/10 03:00 AM

It has already started. "My kids bracket is the toughest. "My kids bracket is loaded." "I have never seen such a bracket as the one my kid is in."

NEWS FLASH: This is the State Championships!!!! They are all gonna be tough.

Go out and wrestle tough. Good Luck to everyone. Your Brackets are all full of good kids.

Well said Beeson, It's like this every year. With some of the things that are said and commented about on this forum, it's amaizing how many of the kids are actually friends or become friends if given the chance, despite the actions of parents and coaches. The ones of us that have experianced wrestling in our lives as wrestlers, have an inherent respect for the six minute burn that all wrestlers share, that is why, as they mature, and in most cases at the high school level, wrestlers shake hands and don't bad mouth each other, at least not publicly or through forums. It almost always seems to be someone talking for them. Every bracket is toughest, especially when your in it!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE KIDS.

They are all tough brackets this weekend and next weekend they get tougher and the following weekend they all are super brackets. Give all the wrestlers the credit for finishing the season and trying to move on through the qualifiers.

I love this time of year - this is what it's all about. In fact, the only thing I don't like about this time of year - is that I know wrestling season is wrapping up for another 8 or 9 months!!
I guess we all think our kids brackets are the toughest super brackets out there cuz it's the bracket we are most concerned with and we come to know all the boys who are in it!!! It's good stuff!
Good luck to all who will be competing at STATE this weekend - - - - and just for the record.......10 & U 61lbs most definitely a "SUPER BRACKET"!!! : )

I agree Beeson!!! Lets get over this already! This weekend will be the best of the best in Kansas! Lets just give these well deserving kids a hand just for making it to the sweet 16!! Besides it all depends on who shows up and decides to wrestle. If you have a whole bracket full of kids who are not state champs they may all want it so badly that every match in the bracket could be overtime! LOL Good Luck to all this next weekend and Congrats to each and every state qualifier!!

Well said. Our family watches a lot a great kids from all different ages and weight classes, especially those we have watched wrestle with our son over the years. We have met a lot of great kids, coaches, parents and refs and once again it is hard to believe wrestling season has almost come to an end. I'm looking forward to seeing you all this weekend. Congratulations to D1 10 & Under 61# Derek Bollinger, Levi Green, Jordan Priddy & T-Bone. Good luck to everyone in the bracket. You guys have all worked hard and deserve to be there. Wrestle hard, have fun & be proud...

I don't know if it's a super bracket but the 10&U 100 pound bracket is very close. This should be an exciting bracket to watch. I saw four of the sate qualifiers battle at Pratt and the largest margin of victory was a 5-0 decision in the entire bracket. I know that most of these kids have throught the year and they are all real closely matched. There are probalbly tougher brackets out there but I would not put money for or against any one of these kids to go or not go all the way.

Re: How Many Super Brackets are there. - 03/24/10 11:53 AM

sorry I was thinking 12-100 not 10-100-- so 12-100 whats your pick? 12-100 is a super bracket! I changed my mind I am picking blake stovall.

I think I'll stick with Lucas Lovvorn! But I can guarantee that this is a super bracket! And every match should be a battle to the end! Although I agree with those who have mentioned that if you have made it this far you deserve to be recognized! Watch out for the kid who you haven't met this year and the name you don't know! Sometimes there are a few suprises out there! Be prepared, rest well, eat right and be ready to RUMBLE on Saturday! Good Luck to all the State Qualifiers our there!

I would not be a bit suprised if lucas won it. Stovall is Isaacs sparring partner and we have got to know him. I must say that Lucas is a great kid & Isaac & our family respect him as a person & wrestler both. Good luck see ya at state.

.....they're ALL SUPER BRACKETS.....every kid that has made it this far has "qualified" to be in the "Big Show" by their Desire, Determination & Dedication through the season!

I've often wanted to add to the "Who's tough" thread...."My old Brahma Bull in the back pasture if you're lucky --- he's the toughest meat around that you're likely to meet" but have held back.

To all the coach's athlete's & parents' & guardians' attending State this week......remember its ALL about the KIDS....

"Victory isn't defined by wins or losses. It is defined by effort. If you can truthfully say, 'I did the best I could, I gave everything I had,' then you're a winner."
---Wolfgang Schadler

& whoever said this hit it on the head...."When all is said and done, it's not the shots that won the championship that you remember, but the friendships you made along the way."
---Unknown

Let's get ready....for countdown.......

I wouldn't put money on the 12U 100 either with Lucas, Tevin and Blake all in that one. If I had to choose it would be one of these three.

8 Under 80 not "loaded" per say but three very good ones with a chance to win it and prob more that I'm just not familiar with. D. Newton, J. Hartley and T. Gross (from Phillipsburg, lost to Newton 2-1 in districts). I got those match numbers already written down on my "ones to watch" list.

Tony the score in that match was actually 8-0. That was one of the last brackets done so I guess they just entered a score n track wrestling cause they were ready to be done. It was stll a very competitive match.

Watched some great matches this weekend! Lucas ended up placing 4th...losing 1-0 to Armand Mcrae TOHK in the finals...would have liked a better outcome but still not bad! Congrats to both Blake Stovall and Tevin Briscoe! All good wrestlers!
Also want to congrat my older son Drake for placing 3rd in HS 160!

Re: How Many Super Brackets are there. - 03/30/10 12:25 AM

Super bracket was D1 U14 100 in Districts. Two three time State placers not advancing, all four who advanced finished in the top five at the State tournament. Beeson, sorry I had to chime in. Like you, I see these threads thrown out there each year. I guess I felt bad at one point that I wouldn't let my son cut to 95 where he had been earlier in the year (continued to grow throughout the season). He wanted to, and I am sure that he could have made it. If he would have been at 95, he would likely have made it to State and possibly placed. Looking back, I am glad that he wrestled in that bracket and that I made the decision I did. No tears were shed, no "see dad, I told you I should have wrestled 95", just a young man that gave it everything he could and, in the end, it just wasn't good enough.

Re: How Many Super Brackets are there. - 03/30/10 06:41 PM

Yes, they are all tough, especially the one your son is in.
Yes, everyone should be commended for qualifying and placing inspite of their bracket "toughness" and we don't want to take anything away from everyones accomplishments with this silly conjecture.
Yes, we should just get over it.
But no......this is just too juicy to pass up so based on my observations, HS 125 was the toughest. HS state medalist not placing. Crazy tough. Go look at it and tell me what you think.
HS 130 was beasty as well as were all of the brackets of the new and improved HS division.
And no, my son was not in the 125 bracket.

Re: How Many Super Brackets are there. - 03/31/10 12:11 AM

You know every time I see this thread which has been posted 100 times, "which bracket is the toughest?" I think HS 125 is toughest for HS 125 pounders and 8 under 43 is toughest for 8 under 43 pounders! LOL

Re: How Many Super Brackets are there. - 04/02/10 02:18 AM

Armond's weight was all over the spectrum this wrestling season...he finally settled in at 12 U 100, after wrestling last year at state at 72. He gave up a few pounds at 100, but felt comfortable at that weight (no worries about making weight). This year all the wrestlers were new to him (except moses). 12 U 92, 96 & 100 were all tough brackets, and several of those wrestlers were on the bottom side of 12U!
