Did anyone have problems with security?

The only problem that I had was during my son's championship match when I went to videotape, I was kneeling down and someone who didn't have a wrestler on that mat got security for me to move. After I told the first security guard politely I had 30 seconds left in overtime, I would be out of the way then. He in turn went and got 2 more security guards who told me I had to leave before I got arrested-
Getting arrested for videotaping a championship match in overtime, that my son won-lol, would of been worth it!!
Great experience otherwise and friendly people

You weren't supposed to be on the floor filming in the first place, so I fail to see what beef you could possible have with the rules being enforced. The fact that you got away with it for however long you did was in point of fact a failure of the security to notice you in the first place, so you should feel fortunate about that.

Overall the staff were the best they have ever been (6th year there). There were a few that got carried away, but compared to our first few years there - a lot better. They are obviously trying, but change may come hard for some of them.

I saw quite a few people on the floor without press credentials filming, and some without wrist bands. I realize that parents want to see there kid wrestle but why is it so hard for people to follow the rules. I know of a couple of times we had trouble getting to the mat because of the congestion. This happens way to often at smaller venues and then the ones who do follow the rules can not see. how can we as parents and coaches expect the kids we are responsible for to follow the rules if we don't. I can not count how many times I heard the same saying this season ( please be seated or take a knee by the mat ) Maybe if some of these people where escorted out more would start following the rules.

The Up and Down only is so that the people can get on or off the floor quickly. If you could go up or down at all the entrances to the floor, nobody would be moving anywhere. There are a lot of people trying to get on or off the floor all the time. This is a request of the Tournament Directors.

that needs to be changed, they were calling for a coach at mat 7 for me, and they staff made me walk all the way around the building. it would not be bad, trust me. it would be alot better than having to run clear around. its bs in my opinion. and most of the ks tournament directors are not coaching kids, they are on the floor the whole time. they should ask the coaches to vote on it at the state meeting.

I was sitting in section 217. goarmy you would not of been the gentlemen that when we asked to take a knee said i am just going to watch this match and then i will move, and then security came up and told you to move not because any of us ask them to just because they came around all day asking people to take a seat (since people would stand right in front of the sign that said no standing allowed) and then about 5-10 minutes later they came back and told this gentlemen he needed to move and he said the match just got over turned around to walk down the steps and flipped us off. FYI we had nothing to do with the security people asking you to move. If this was you I apoligize for the way one of our club members reacted, but shame on you or whoever for giving us the finger when there were many wrestlers sitting there.

Teresa,
Yes I admit I was with that person
That action was addressed after walking away, not acceptable-no excuses, my apologies
It was uncalled for since there was so little time on the clock and there was no safety issues. Anyone would of wanted to videotape their wrestler. Two wrongs don't make it right.

So you stand in the way to videotape your wrestler, and assume that should be okay because others would do the same thing?

And what happens when the next guy stands up and takes your place, and then the next guy, and the next? What about when more than one person is doing this? All the sudden no one can see the action on the floor all because you couldn't be bothered to videotape a match from somewhere in the arena where you wouldn't be in other spectators view.

How very noble of you.

Re: security at state - 03/31/10 03:27 AM

you are assuming that he was standing in the way, he knealt down.to be courtsey to the spectators, I feel if parents want to videotape matches that they worked hard to get what is the harm? Being rude and jumping to conclusions on what would happpen next is senseless. Parents are proud when their wrestlers who just won a match and will be a state placer.

ITs more of being considerate since you may be in that same situation one day. I hope the match you will taping will be a straight 6 min with no blood time, Im sure wherever you can see the mat better you would try to move to that area instead of taping a blurr. Most everyone in the past 7 years never had a problem with it and we return the favor ,,very noble to you also
Our club would leave their seats for a parent trying to videotape their childs matches**we ARE SUPPOSE TO BE ON THE SAME TEAM*

THERE are alot of what ifs
If I was blocking the view from a team that had a wrestler on that mat than i apologize, not my intentions. or if
others decide that 217 is the place to go to get good video for the high school championship matches.
Your missing the point- the point was apologies have been said and received and the match got on video. Those high school wrestlers need videos to send to colleges that they are interested in. There was a purpose and that wasn't to say who was right or wrong,as we know what opinions are,,and everyone has one *my 3rd time sorry if any parents couldn't see their wrestlers* i will make him take that into consideration
