Middle School National Duals

I am working on getting the line ups put together. I will be emailing everyone tomorrow and Monday. If I don't have your information please email me ASAP.

DETAILS:

We will need seven dads to drive vans from Lawrence, KS to Indianola, IA

We will leave on Friday April 8 from Lawrence. We need everyone to be there by 10am.

We will be staying at the Adventureland Inn in Altoona, IA. I did NOT reserve rooms for parents.

I am just checking to make sure I did not miss the email from Mr. Cokeley. Has anyone else recieved their email with the details he mentioned above? Thanks Teresa

I was reading the flier online about the Middle School Duals in Indianola. It says the boys need to have an AAU card. Do we need to go online and buy this? or is the organizer of Team KS taking care of it?

ALL COMPETITORS HAVE UNTIL CLOSE OF WEIGH IN TO MAKE WEIGHT. MUST MAKE SCRATCH WEIGHT. (NO SCALE ALLOWANCE)
COMPETITION: ALL TEAMS WILL BE SEEDED IN TEAM POOLS BASED ON PAST FINISH BY TEAM. FIRST TIME TEAMS WILL BE RANDOMLY SEEDED. (SIZE OF POOLS WILL BE SUBJECT TO ADJUSTMENT BASED ON TOTAL NUMBER OF TEAMS ENTERED). AFTER POOL WRESTLING TEAMS WILL BE SEEDED INTO PRELIMINARY BRACKET BASED ON POOL PERFORMANCE AND THEN ON POINT DIFFERENTIAL IN TEAM SCORES. POOL CHAMPIONS WILL RECEIVE TOP SEEDS FOLLOWED BY POINT DIFFERENCE SEEDING (SOME ADJUSTMENTS IN PRELIMINARY BRACKET MIGHT BE NECESSARY TO SEPERATE TEAMS FROM THE SAME STATE). Good Luck to all the KANSAS Middle School Wrestlers. Brenda Gonzales and I hosted Issac & Jordan Zimmerman & Ethan Deterding and Tyler Gonzales from Hays Wrestling Club last night. It was a joy to visit and talk about wrestling with great kids. This is Tyler Gonzales fifth year of working for Will Cokeley and MS Team Kansas. Just want to "THANK" Will for all he has done for the Youth of Kansas. I like forward to hearing how the Kids are doing. RMG

just got an update from my son, who says everyone has made weight. Good luck boys.

Weighins getting finished up! Vans loading up and headed to hotel shortly! Lots of kids running around with handfuls of food!!

One of my favorite stories from last year was the pit stop along the way where a mom pulled the scale out and wrestlers were tossing cloths off to check their weights in the parking lot. I wish that I could have been along for the trip and to watch these guys represent Team Kansas.

ReDPloyd - it was something else seeing a line of Middle School Students standing, in the parking lot, in line in nothing but their underwear. That and the look on the cashiers face when all those kids come rushing into the store.

It was a wonderful experience for me and my son. The coaches were outstanding. Thanks again to all those who put this together for our kids!

It happened again this year too. Waiting to get into vans at the Auto Exchange when a mom pulled out a scale. I laughed as all the motorists traveling down 23rd street in Lawrence wondered why their was 35 kids standing around in their underwear!

And we thank you so much for hosting Ethan, this is a great experience for him,and Tyler has done a great job working with the boys to prepare them.

Our son sent us this text when we were on our way home from Indianola/Middle School Duals last year:

Two new Team Kansas singlets...2 medals...a certificate for our
teams place...a Team Kansas t-shirt...a pair of Team Kansas shorts...a Team Kansas wrestling bag...a t-shirt that the tourney gives the wrestlers...and then, like just the experience of going to Iowa...wrestling against teams from other states...and having olympic wrestlers be ur coaches...

His experience of wrestling for Team Kansas is second to none. Something he will always remember. It is not just the wrestling or the great coaching. He formed new friendships with team mates and got to better know guys he has wrestled in the past.

Can't say "thank you" enough to Will Cokeley and everyone else involved for getting this organized.

Great weekend of unbelievable wrestling and great memories.

Good luck Team Kansas 2011! Can't wait for updates.

Wow! Got back in Lawrence and was smoked! Had a big smile on my face too though so the weekend was worth it. Lots of fun! This year I had the opportunity to be a bench coach for Team 2 Coyotes so I didn't get a chance to keep up on all the other teams. The pace is fast a furious going from one dual to another, with hardly a chance to even get something to eat. Met some knew kids this year that I was very impressed with. Saw some go down with injuries and still try their best to get back in there. If I can say anything about what these duals do for our wrestlers is make them gutsy tough wrestlers!

I got to meet some new friends and hang out with some old ones. Great experience for not only the wrestlers, but also for everyone involved from organizers, parents, drivers, coaches, table workers, and just fans of good wrestling! My boys last year and I know already we will miss it!

In the end, I just wanted to thank everyone involved for an experience and memories that will last a lifetime!

Plus if I need a good pair of bolt cutters I know someone in Silver Lake who has a used pair!

Did anyone keep a copy of the program from the first day that i could get a copy of? might be willing to trade a pair of slightly used pair of bolt cutters.

This was by far the toughest tournament we have ever wrestled....Will was on the Kansas Buffalos....great time and great friends made...Thank you to ALL who put this together...look forward to doing it again next year...AND BEING OLDER..BEING A 6 th grader was tough but well worth it...Thanks to Wills coaches...Regan Erickson and Matt Collins....and to his room dad, Doug Newcomer....He loved it...
