2018-19 Bronze Clinics

2018-19 Bronze Clinics - 10/09/18 05:44 PM

I'm starting to get some requests for hosting Bronze Clinics for the upcoming season, and now that we have our annual state body meeting under our belts, I'd like to get going on scheduling clinics. As I get clinics scheduled, I'll be posting information here on this discussion thread. You can also follow my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/USAWKSCoachesEd/) for more updates and information.

I tentatively have the following Sundays open to schedule clinics: November 18, December 9, and February 3. My goal is to offer at least one clinic in each district. Right now, I've got one I'm working out to be hosted in Baldwin for District 1. I've also made contact with clubs in Districts 3 and 4, so I'm looking to do one in District 2. Contact me if you're interested -- bovairdr@usd416.org.

If you'd like to host a clinic, some of the basic requirements are a minimum of 12 coaches (this is tough to know for sure, so if you think you can bring in enough, go ahead and let me know), access to the internet and a projector, and a good sound system. The host club traditionally provides a light lunch to be served during the break. Clinics usually run from 10am until 5-6pm.

Coaches needing to obtain their bronze certifications MUST have a passed background check, a completed Safe Sports certification, and a "WRESTLING LEADER" membership with USA Wrestling. The new memberships must be purchased through USAW, not the state organization. Coaches who show up to the bronze clinic WITHOUT their 2018-19 memberships will NOT be able to complete the course.

Thank you, and please let me know if you have any questions!

Re: 2018-19 Bronze Clinics - 02/04/19 05:56 PM

We'll be offering ONE MORE Bronze Coaches Clinic this season -- the location is still being worked out, but it will be in the Wichita Area to better serve the coaches of District 2.

I'll post information here on the USAWKS Talk Forum, the Coaches Development Facebook Page, and Coaches Page at www.usawks.org.

This will be the last in-person clinic we host before Districts and State.

Coaches and Club Directors, please remember that in order to get coaches bands at Sub-Districts, Districts. and State, a coach MUST have his/her USAW Bronze Certification completed.

Stay tuned for the specifics on our next clinic!

Re: 2018-19 Bronze Clinics - 02/13/19 02:37 AM

Is there a link somewhere where you can go print off your bronze card?
Posted By: Bobby Bovaird

Re: 2018-19 Bronze Clinics - 02/13/19 03:43 PM

Coach, here are the steps you can take to print off a copy of your coach's card:
--> Log into your account at www.usawmembership.com
--> Under the menu, click "Manage"
--> Select "Memberships"
--> Click on your current membership
--> Click the "Print Card" button

You can either save a PDF and print it from a desktop computer, keep the PDF saved to your phone for quick access, or take a screen shot of it.

You'll need to provide a printed or electronic copy of your coach's card along with a photo ID to get your coach's band at the tournaments. Holler if you have any other questions!

Re: 2018-19 Bronze Clinics - 02/26/19 04:48 PM

The USAWKS District 1 Championships flyer says that to obtain a Coaches Band, you must present ALL of the following:

--USAW Coaches Card
--Bronze Level Certification Card
--Photo Identification

So are the USAW Coaches Card and the Bronze Certification Card 2 different things? I thought the Coaches Card shows your Bronze Certification on it, so there is only one card to show them.

Re: 2018-19 Bronze Clinics - 02/26/19 07:46 PM

They (your Coaches Membership card and your Bronze Certification) are likely, one in the same! Just make sure the USAW Wrestling Leaders card you print off, shows your certification level on it!

Re: 2018-19 Bronze Clinics - 02/26/19 09:03 PM

Midway through last season, USAW stopped producing and issuing the actual bronze-colored card. They now issue a white plastic card to newly certified coaches that says "C" for copper (not required in Kansas), "B" for Bronze, "S" for Silver, and "G" for Gold.

You should be able to get your coaches band by presenting a photo ID and either a printed 2018-19 Wrestling Leader membership card or a screen shot of the card. Please don't forget your ID! Some coaches were a little flustered at state last year when we were requiring photo IDs.
