What age group will you start weigh ins? Be nice if the 14u and high school kids could go first since they actually wrestle that day.

What age group will you start weigh ins?

At weigh option #1 (Noon - 2:00pm) we will do our best to get those 14/HS wrestlers in the facility through the scales first priority. After the first run weight classes, they will be in the same mix as everyone else. However, the process moves pretty fast after that anyway.

Can several smaller clubs band together and participate in the reserved seat raffle?

Absolutely YES; in fact the method for distributing the "100 party deck" seats allows for this better than the original seat "auction" did. It is not too late to get into the reserved seat raffle. Email you request for ticket(s) or questions to usawks.statetournament@gmail.com.

What are the criteria that allow a wrestler to walk on to state bracket?

This impacts a small number of athletes who are still competing for their middile school teams which prevents them from wrestling in a USAWKS Qualifying Tournament. They must have also met the registration deadlines.

What are the rules for "pig tailing" walk on wrestlers onto the State bracket.

The rules applied are as follows:
1) walk on is randomly drawn into the bracket against someone from their same district.
2) The losers of the prelim will go straight cross bracket. meaning someone that loses will immediately cross bracket to the equivalent on the other side of the bracket to wrestle into the losers bracket.

What is the time for Session 3?

Folks, there are a lot of moving parts this year. There were updates made to the early release flyer. I have posted a schedule to this thread above as listed in the most current flyer. "Approximate" start time for afternoon session on Saturday (session 3) is 4pm. Times listed are close but they are approximate. We will start early if finish time of prior session allows. Please refer to this FAQ forum topic for updated tourney information leading up to tourney start on Friday. And to a "new" NEED TO KNOW for up to date information and schedule updates during the tournament.

If one backside match will be wrestled on Friday, there will be kids eliminated before the parade? So some of those kids would go home and miss out or not want to participate in the parade because they are no longer wrestling

Honestly...I am telling all our 14U and high school kids not to worry about the parade. No reason for them to get up that early. Especially if they might be wrestling til around 9pm the night before. Going to be a long 3 days...Sleep in a little. But, yes there will be some eliminated before the parade.

Re: FAQ 2020 State Tournament - 03/12/20 02:43 PM

Quick questions on girls division? Now that you know the numbers for girls divisions, is there any chance of doing brackets bigger than 8 women brackets for some weights? Are the brackets going to be made doing a blind draw or is there going to be an attempt made to try and get the better girls split up? (it would be unfortunate to have all the best girls on one side of the bracket, without the girls having a qualifier tournament I think its only fair that an attempt be made to split the girls accordingly, its not the hard with the girls have track profiles)

I hope next year there will be specific weight classes with a district qualifier for the girls division. I am super pumped that they started the girls division last year and we are moving in the right direction but without predetermined weight classes and no qualifying tournament its somewhat luck of the draw at state for girls.
