Coach Dewitt, as much good that you do for this site, and all the effort, is much appreciative, but please leave politics off this site.

I enjoyed the humor of your post. Given the amount of time you invest in our great sport, having a little fun, even if political, does not really distract from the greater whole.
Keep on posting your way.

I just saw the joke!

What ever your political stripe, yesterday was a great day to be an American!

I was talking with a customer of Asian decent from Texas when the National Anthem was sung. We both stopped talking and stood up and sang along. Amazing moment for me.

Ha! I love it. laugh I guess we can take a back seat to the President of the United States if you insist!

I agree that yesterday was a great day to be an American as was every peaceful exchange of power that has occurred over the past couple centuries in this great nation. Let us not forget how lucky we are that we live in a nation where the ballot speaks louder than violence in our politics! Many people in the rest of the world are not so lucky.

By the way, does anyone know if Obama will be at Beloit this weekend? Colby, Clay Center, and Abilene would like to get a chance to move up in the rankings by defeating him head to head! grin

Keep up the good work Red Storm!

Trust me when I say that, considering my voting history, it was a very humbling experience to make that post last night. Now seriously, you can't let a little humor slide on a day like yesterday? Sheeeesh!!

and while we are being honest, IT IS A CAPITAL "W" IN MY LAST NAME!

Re: 4A Rankings - January 20th - 01/21/09 09:33 PM

First time back on the talk page for a while but surprised to see Columbus ranked as a team and Augusta not. Augusta was second by 5 points to Newton at their tournament on Jan 10th. Columbus was nearly 80 some points back. Andover Central was 3rd. If everyone stays healthy Augusta has power at State contenders at 125, 130, 135, 140, 171 and others possible if they get thru regional. (Simply an observation)

Re: 4A Rankings - January 20th - 01/21/09 11:39 PM

No you are right on your observation, I think that they will be moving up soon. Columbus as the rankings look now could have two finalists which counts for a lot of points at state, but are they in the same regional? They will sort it out there. Email some records and head to head for me so I can be sure that they are getting their fair due.

Re: 4A Rankings - January 20th - 01/22/09 12:26 AM

Considering Stephens from Colby has beaten Cody Hill everytime they have wrestled at 140, where do you put Stephens on that list? Are you just considering the fact that Hill placed 6th at state last year?
Posted By: RedStorm

Re: 4A Rankings - January 20th - 01/22/09 12:59 AM

Yes, there is some weight to his placing last year. The Colby coaches do an excellent job of updating me each week. I know Heath beat Cody 5-4 at Liberal in a very good match and they have wrestled close every time. I don't think he minds flying under the radar right now, but won't for long.

140 Cameron Jesseph Chanute 12 2nd
140 Cody Bontz Wichita Independent 11 2nd
140 Cody Hill Hugoton 10 6th
140 Matt Brock Tonganoxie 12 4th
140 Zach Reeb Jeff West 12 1-2
140 Chris Coover Ottawa 11 4th
140 Dakota Hayes Scott City 11 2-2
140 Heath Stephens Colby 12 1-2

What about it? B.T. is a great wrestler and only a sophomore, is does not surprise me that he was able to beat Reeb last year at state.

Re: 4A Rankings - January 20th - 01/22/09 04:11 PM

Remember, Democrats are allowed to make jokes about themselves, but when a Republican takes a stab at the coronation of the almighty Obama, he gets taken to task.

Come on, lighten up. If you can't see the overdoing of the "Obama is our savior" from the media, you are blind.

He is now our president, so we have to hope for the best, even though I didn't support him on election day. But that doesn't mean I can't make fun of him, just like I made fun of Carter, Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43.

The presidential limo email going around with the lift system, curb feelers, etc is pretty funny.

I always figured Redstorm for a Republican, isn't that why he is beating that donkey?
Posted By: wrestlingAlum

Re: 4A Rankings - January 20th - 01/22/09 11:06 PM

Maybe I was mistaken, I took it as a Hail to the Chief, hooray for Obama kind of thing. If you were posting it tongue and cheek, as a laugh, I am right there with you.

I am not familiar with any of these guys outside of BJ but you don't have to win a tournament to be ranked 6th. That is basically say that Ole Horsebeater thinks he is going to finish 6th at 4A state. Pretty simple.

Rank heavyweight for me will you. I don't have a clue as to who's out there, obviously. Wilson's coach told me that he has five losses (some not so good) but he has beaten the kid from Caney twice who is a 321A medalist. I know he lost to the Anderson Co kid, who beat he Holton kid, who beat the Osaw kid. I am sure there is a heavy kid out west somewhere who will be a bracket buster. The problem here is that it is hard to rank a bunch of kids who like to "get one to one and see what happens."

New Rankings
285 BJ Finney Andale 11
285 Tank Burns Columbus 11
285 Tyler Gjerstad Abilene 11
Get 1 to 1 and see what happens

Concordia remains unbeaten in NCKL
Last Updated: January 23, 2009

Avenging an earlier loss to Abilene, the Concordia High School wrestling team remained unbeaten in the North Central Kansas League by knocking off the Cowboys 40-32 in a dual, Thursday night, in the Concordia Junior-Senior High School gymnasium.

Concordia had lost to Abilene 45-27 in the Wamego Invitational, back in December.

Winning six matches by fall, the Panthers turned the tables on the Cowboys in a league dual.

“This was a very exciting dual. Both teams won seven matches; however, the turning point for us was we scored bonus points through pins,” Concordia coach Kevin Brown said.

The Panthers are now 11-5 overall in duals and 3-0 in the NCKL.

“I am proud of these young men. We are coming together as a team,” Brown said, “We had some young men who fought hard in a loss to be sure and not give up the fall.”

Concordia fell behind 6-0 when Derek Mead lost by fall to Luke Cole in the 103-pound class.

The Panthers then posted four straight wins.

Taelor Mendenhall pinned Marcus Ruiz in the 112-pound class.
Wyatt Brichalli, 119, pinned C.J. Millard, and Concordia had a lead it would not relinquish.

Dalton Fraser won a 9-1 major decision over Cody Neff in the 125-pound class.

“Our lower weight classes got us started on a roll by picking up falls in three out of the first four matches,” Brown said, “This really helped to create some momentum for the rest of the dual.”

Dylan Moore, 130, lost by technical fall, 15-0, to Courtney Strauss.

Concordia then won the next two matches.

Alec Champlin pinned Ryan Daly in the 135-pound class.

Brandon Anguish, 140, stuck Hayden Karraker.

Lex Deal was pinned by Quinton Wuthnow in the 145-pound class.

The Panthers got those points right back when Brice Loeffler pinned Cody Riffel in the 152-pound class.

Concordia was open at 160, and Chase Champlin dropped an 11-5 decision to Jordan Ward in the 171-pound class.

Tyler Hasenbank secured the victory for Concordia by pinning Casey Dickerson in the 189-pound class to put the Panthers up 40-26.

Levi Kindel, 215, lost a 6-3 decision to Taylor Wuthnow.

Jordan Brown, 285, was beaten 3-1 by Tyler Gjersted.

Concordia is competing in the Beloit Invitational today and Saturday.

A small amount of research or even listening to the announcer would have given you a clue that Colten Picking was not even in the line up last night.
