Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 12/22/09 01:19 AM

Here's a little help for your rankings Coach Brown.

At 103, who has Brendon Lewis of Lyons beaten to be ranked ahead of a returning state qualifier like Colt Skillman of Burlington? Skillman split matches with Cario of Horton last year and took 2nd at Kid's State to Bonilla of Goddard.

At 112, who has Kody Cox of Lyons beaten to be ranked ahead of a returning state placer like Clint Solis of Bluestem? I'm not sure but I think Cox did not place at the Minneapolis Tournament. Solis has been beaten by Kasey Biddle of Central Burden twice this year but took 6th at state last year at 112. Cox also lost to Steven Howard of Eureka and Solis head to head last year at the state and regional tournaments respectively.

At 119, Randy Regnier of Marion beat Weston Penn of Minneapolis 8-5 in a dual. Regnier took 1st at the Hesston Tournament. I believe Hunter Stalford of Caney is a sophomore.

At 130, I believe that Dalton Davis of Lakin is a junior.

At 152, Thomas Rachow of Phillipsburg beat Landon Keiswetter 7-5 in OT at a dual. Rachow finished 3rd at Osborne while Kinderknecht of Ellis took 2nd. Keiswetter pinned Bainter of Hoxie at the Goodland Tournament to help with your rankings. Delgado finished behind Keiswetter at St. Francis taking 3rd to Keiswetter's 1st. At this moment I'd rank this weight as follows:

1. Sage Thimmesch-Garden Plain-12
2. Dillon Kinderknecht-Ellis-12
3. Thomas Rachow-Phillipsburg
4. Landon Keiswetter-Norton-11
5. Lorenzo Delgado-Goodland-12
6. Dylan Bainter-Hoxie-11

However, 5 of the ranked wrestlers that I would rank are in the same regional, so someone will not even make it to state. This would move a guy like Kyle White of Horton into the rankings ahead of Bainter.

At 160, Adam Pineau of Pleasant Ridge is a returning state qualifier at the same weight. He went 2-2 at state making it to the blood round. Pineau finished first at the Sabetha Tournament.

At 171, Zane Perez of Norton beat Paul Starr of Goodland 10-2 in the finals at St. Francis.

At 189, Castlebury of Douglass beat Lowe of Eureka head to head in a dual 11-7. Even though McKenna of Norton has jumped a couple of weight classes to 189, he is a returning state placer at 145 which should count for something criteria wise.

At 215, Daniel Youngers of Garden Plain beat Tyler White of Cimarron at the Hoisington Tournament.

From the results I've seen these wrestlers have yet to have wrestled at their ranked weight class. I'll list their current weight. Hunter Stalford is a 125, Jesse Brown of Flint Hills is at 130 or 135, Josh Corman of Minneapolis is at 130, Danny Floyd of Osborne is at 140, Adam Klein of Minneapolis is at 152. However, this could change as wrestlers are allowed to recertify after the initial December 22nd deadline.

I will take all of that great information into account and revise the rankings, and appreciate the help. And I agree that was a great post, I am doing the best I can as you know, this is not an easy job an one my wife absolutley hates-but I do enjoy it even the constructive criticism.

well 103 lewis lost to regis weiss from russel by 1 and regis is a kids club placer and ranked in 4a (which is the hardest class) and in the all class>>>>>and 125 corman from minneapolis did wrestle at 125 and the minneapolis tournament...and 119 Lange from lyons pinned the marion kid at the first dual of the season in lyons...and 119 weston penn of minneapolis beat werner- plainville at minneapolis

Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 12/22/09 10:42 PM

Kody Cox might be out for the season. We are waiting on the MRI results. He lost by fall to Schumacher like everyone else does. 1-0 to Pitcock and 1-0 Younger before a desperation takedown attempt at the end. Victories over Sanders, Studley, Constable and Hummel are a few of the better kids he beat. No need to occupy a spot in the rankings. Solis is proven and legit maybe even a little higher on the list.
Might have gotten carried away taking Younger out of the mix. His two losses are by one point to Pitcock of Russell. It might have been a fluke but he beat Steven Howard 12-1 at Minneapolis. At least that was the score when I quit watching.

Is there goin to be an update soon?

Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 01/12/10 11:50 PM

Here is some more criteria for the rankings:

At 112, Gage Younger of Ellis beat Steven Howard of Eureka 11 to 2 at the Minneapolis Tournament. Younger also took returning state champion Dylan Schumacher to O.T. at the Ellsworth Tournament.

At 125, John Corman of Minneapolis finished 1st at the Minneapolis Tournament, while Grant Holub of TMP took 4th. Corman also beat Riley Hunsicker of Ellis 4 to 0 at Ellsworth. Hunsicker bumped up to wrestle him I think. Corman is a returning state placer taking 5th at 125. I haven't seen results but I've heard that Jesse Brown of Flint Hills has dropped to 125 and beat Riley Soward of Halstead in a dual match during December. They may meet again at the Halstead Tournament.

At 152, Adam Klein of Minneapolis beat Dillon Kinderknecht of Ellis 8 to 4 at the Ellsworth Tournament. I'm not sure if Klein has certified at 145 or if he is staying at 152.

At 171, Zane Perez of Norton beat Matt Attwood of Smith Center 5 to 3 at the Norton Tournament.

At 189, Tyler Lowe of Eureka beat Brock Ditto of Burlington at the Burlington Tournament. Lowe lost to Braden Long of Southeast Saline at the Minneapolis Tournament. Also, Gavin Miller of Little River finished ahead of Lowe at Minneapolis. Taylor Bullard of Hoisington finished ahead of Miller at the Osborne and Ellsworth Tournaments. However, I'm not sure if they actually wrestled at Osborne, they did not meet at Ellsworth. Bullard lost to Preston Werth of TMP at the Hoisington Tournament. Lowe beat Werth at Minneapolis. I would rank 189 like this:

1. Brett Dunlap-Doniphan West-12
2. Tate Omli-EllSaline-11
3. Kaid McKenna-Norton-12
4. Gavin Miller-Little River-12
5. Braden Long-Southeast-Saline-12
6. Colt Castlebury-Douglass-10

Bullard, Werth, and Lowe are on the outside looking in at being ranked. Miller, Long, and Castlebury are slated to wrestle at the Halstead Tournament this weekend.

Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 01/18/10 09:21 PM

At 145, I would consider moving Sheldon Graves of Rossville into the rankings. He finished 5th at 135 last year and has a 4th place finish to his credit at the Basehor Tournament this season. He also took 2nd at Eudora. Graves should be ranked 2nd because he beat Albers head to head at state. He also placed in the same weight that Keiswetter and Hockett did not place in. Graves beat Bingham of Burlingame for 5th who had beaten Keiswetter earlier in the bracket.

Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 01/18/10 09:30 PM

At 135, Kiefer Hurla of Rossville pinned Gibson at Basehor on his way to finishing 7th place, he took 2nd at Eudora and 4th at Rossville. Hurla was a state qualifier last year at 130. Brett Terrell of Norton might deserve being ranked ahead of Yoder because he went 2-2 at state at 125 while Yoder went 0-2 at 135. Terrell lost 5-2 to the state champion and 2-0 to the 4th place finisher at last year’s state tournament. He also placed 3rd at Norton and was a match away from placing at Newton. Terrell beat Landon Singular of Clay Center 5-3 who beat Hurla of Rossville at the Rossville Tournament. I would rank Terrell at least 5th with Hurla as my 6th.

At 215, Sione Siale of Chaparral is wrestling varsity now instead of Claflin. Siale placed 1st at Clearwater. I’m not sure but he may also go by John because Chaparral had a state qualifier last year at 215 named John Siale.

At 112, I don’t know if they wrestled at Halstead, but Solis finished ahead of Biddle. They should have met in the semifinals. I think their records versus each other are 1-1. Solis has finished ahead of Biddle at 3 out of the 4 tournaments they have both attended.

Yes-this is the same kid. He however still needs to win the challenge matches at practice. Claflin was held out of the Clearwater tourny for disaplinary action by school. Sionie (John)
has had to cut alot of weight to try to make the lineup. Curently 9-0 and very dominating "under the lights". Unfortunatlly, we are stacked at the top end.

This is a time when the powerlifting weights would benefit us.

Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 01/26/10 09:25 PM

At 112, Gage Younger of Ellis beat Steven Howard 12-1 at Minneapolis. Younger also had an overtime match with Schumacher. Calvin Ochs finished ahead of Skyler Geopfert at the Beloit Tournament, I'm not sure if they wrestled.
Posted By: Wyatt Bechtel

Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 01/26/10 09:26 PM

At 125, Jesse Brown of Flinthills did not get to wrestle against Brandon Ray of Eureka because they both eclipsed the 5 match rule at the Eureka Tournament. Brown has two wins over Riley Soward of Halstead who was a state placer last year. Ray has not beat a quality opponent. They might see each other at the next two tournaments.
Posted By: Wyatt Bechtel

Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 01/26/10 09:26 PM

At 145, Nick Hockett owns a head to head victory over Dillon Wildin, 7-2 at the Halstead Tournament. Hockett lost 9-8 to Keiswetter at state last year. So the rankings should be #4 Keiswetter, #5 Hockett, and #6 Wildin.
Posted By: Wyatt Bechtel

Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 01/26/10 09:27 PM

At 152, Zach Eaton of Smith Center formerly of Bennington finished ahead of both Klein and Bainter. He placed 4th to their 5th and 6th. Which means he beat one of them head to head. Klein and Bainter split at Beloit according to a previous poster. Bainter is also the odd man out at regionals because Rachow, Keiswetter, Delgado, and Eaton are all in the Norton Regional. Klein should probably maintain his 6th ranking because he will be in the Rossville Regional which he should win and Bainter has less likelihood of qualifying.

Re: 321-A Rankings update-Happy Holidays - 01/27/10 11:43 AM

Howard must have turned it around between Minneapolis and Eureka. That first week down at 112 might have been rough. Whether Younger is ranked or not, he will be a tough out at Hays if he stays healthy.

I have not heard anything from Plainville 130 since Minneapolis.

Riley Hunsicker has not been back to 119 for a while.

Schneider from Ellsworth will be somewhere on the bracket at 140 on Saturday at Hays.

Will see how he does this weekend with Ochs. Also, at 189, Werth who is no longer listed, beat Jacobs at the Classic in Hays. 125 will be one to watch with everyone now listed!!

I'm assuming that Siale beat Younger's last week at the Garden Plain Tournament, which moves Siale over Younger. Why is White ranked ahead of Siale and Younger, when Younger beat White head to head at the Hoisington Round Robin? Also, why is Rayburn ranked 3rd when he has yet to qualify to state, while Siale and Younger both made it last year? Rayburn has seen limited action this year which tells me he is not healthy and probably will have a difficult time making the state medal stand. Siale, Younger, and Lowe will be in the same bracket this weekend. This is how I'd rank 215:

215
1. Ethan Jirak-Oakley-12
2. John Siale-Chaparral-11
3. Daniel Younger-Garden Plain-12
4. Tyler White-Cimmaron-11

I believe that Bainter (NT) has wrestled Hunsicker (E) 3 times this year. Bainter winning 2 out of the 3. Hunsicker won at MCL, but twice last week Bainter beat him. 125 might be the deepest weight this year at state. Also, Preston Werth of TMP won 3 matches last weekend against some ranked wrestlters that proves he should be ranked among the top 6. Werth also hasnt lost since.....the Minnapolis tournament.

Don't blink, Feb. 27 is going to be here before you know it.

I am updating this weekend, please keep all the information on the forum and the PMs coming it always helps.

It has been an interesting year and I am going to take a hard look at who is going to what Regional and who possibly won't make it. I will also update them right before State for the final time.

Once again thank you for all the constructive criticism, the updates from parts unseen by me, and for your words of encouragement. Best of luck TO ALL who go to Regionals and State and may all wrestle to the best of thier ability and to prove me wrong!

bullard pinned miller at osborn and beat him in overtime in dual at nickerson

In two weeks all the guess work will be laid to rest. Best of luck to all of the wrestlers. Let the fans see the best every wrestler has to offer. The wrestling shall be intense and I am anxious with anticipation.

Not sure why Colt Castlebury 189 of Douglass was taken off, if it was because of his sixth place finish at the Circle Tournament you should know that he was sick the second day of the tournament and didn't even come. I look to see him finish in the top four, i guess we will see at state.
