Bobcat Classic!

Bobcat Classic! - 01/05/10 09:43 PM

Looking forward to the HWT match-ups!

Iowa has their #2 ranked HWT, Colin White coming in to wrestle Tank Burns and BJ Finney! Too bad Vincent is not wrestling. Those semi-finals would have been good ones.

7 ranked wretlers at 130lbs. 152lbs. and 285lbs!!!!

Add the fact that Pittsburgs 285lber. has beat a couple of the ranked wrestlers on that list and it may be the toughest bracket in the tournament.

Re: Bobcat Classic! - 01/06/10 12:19 PM

Garrett from Seaman is at 130, making that bracket even tougher.

Cool. A most likely rematch with Blair. I might have to break open my piggy bank and scrap out what is left in the bottom of it and make the trip down for the finals!

Valley Center is not there.

Re: Bobcat Classic! - 01/12/10 06:19 PM

Well, good. I don't have to break open my piggy-bank and can stay home and spend some much needed time with my family. Thanks badbo for the correction.

Re: Bobcat Classic! - 01/12/10 06:29 PM

I wouldn't let the family in on that just yet. If it gets warm and we can do this thing it will be a better tourney than Derby ended up.

Does anyone know the wrestlers records or if they have even lost at 112, 130, 152,171 and 215?

It is Tank Burns that is ranked #1 in 4a, and Finney is #2 in 4a. Burns beat Finney in 4a finals last year. With an undefeated kid from Iowa coming down and the other tough kids, HWT will be fun to watch. Looks like a heck of a tough field in most if not all weights.

Parker Madl and Tank Burns are both defending state champs which makes at least 10 state champions in this tournament. Very nice.

Shawnee Mission is getting a police escort in order to lesson the chance of an accident. Our kids will also be wearing helmets.

Defref,

To imply that any of these comments could in any way be associated with that terrible tragedy tells me that you are one sick person. Your post should be deleted and you should be banned from this forum!

Re: Bobcat Classic! - 01/17/10 09:46 PM

I was trying to think of how to respond to him as well, but couldn't come up with anything that could be posted on this forum. Unbelievable. Glad you said something first. I'm gladd he didn't take my keys away last night when I was leaving Basehor, or I wouldn't have been able to drive home. Somehow or another, even with near zero visibility, some wet spots on the road, and below freezing temperatures, I was able to make decisions on speed and braking pressure that allowed me to arrive home without incident. I am sorry that a kid had to lose his/her life in the Wellsville accident, because an adult was NOT able to do that, whether it be the driver of the vehicle he was riding in, or another vehicle. But to imply that we are somehow bad parents for trusting our schools to take good care of our kids in less than perfect weather is ridiculous

Re: Bobcat Classic! - 01/17/10 10:09 PM

I agree with defref. A lot of the comments I have been reading recently that pertain to schools canceling wrestling trips have been inappropriate and completely out of line. I don't care how many times you've posted and I don't even care who you are or what you've done for Kansas wrestling in general. That does not make it OK for you to criticize an act that is in the best interest of the kids. No matter what you may believe, wrestlers and coaches are friends, siblings, children, and parents before they are participants in the sport. I hope from the bottom of my heart that none of you ever have to experience the loss of a child but that is exactly what is being risked when you send a busload of them onto the road in heavy fog and ice. And for what? A few wrestling matches? Nothing is worth that. You can go ahead and call for me to get banned from this forum. I really don't care. I'm growing pretty weary of many of the people on this forum who feel that they are above criticism, no matter how baseless, pompous, arrogant, and irresponsible their comments may be. Maybe before you attack someone for calling you out you should take a good look at who really has the problem.

School was not canceled because of hazardous travel conditions. Everyone agrees that we should take care in those instances. The issue was exactly "It is too cold.". We cannot save everyone and it is ridiculous to think we can! If the going gets tough stay at home because something bad might happen! You might have a better shot at winning the Powerball Lottery than being hurt or killed but don't risk it! Many of us, set wrestling aside for second, are sick of the the whining minority who cannot seem to take care of themselves or make decisions for self preservations. Decisions are not being made by the majority for the majority but instead in fear of litigation. Litigators are killing our country and robbing us of our freedom!

Re: Bobcat Classic! - 01/18/10 12:18 AM

I prefer to point my kids in the direction of "real life", where you still go to work, maybe leave a little earlier, when the roads are bad. Our school, last year, called off school at around 1:oo in the afternoon, because of rain. Yes, rain, in sedgwick county, where there are NO roads that are impassable in heavy rain. It had already quit raining at noon!!! No thought given to the fact that 1000 kids' parents had to make arrangements to somehow get home to take care of the kids that afternoon. I am not opposed to reasonable situations where we call off school, but adminstrators that flatout "take the day off", by calling off school for MINOR reasons, P*ss me off.
