I think Bishop Miege was 4A for football this year but 5A for everything else.

And what sports have those teams dominated for years and years?

Such as Olathe (is it South that has all those championships?) and Hutch in football? I don't know much about basketball. Is there a team that often wins that? Public or private school?

Olathe North was/is the football powerhouse

What about Topeka Hayden? Unless my eyes are half way shut from the baby keeping me up, they should be a 4a team...and for that matter, on the list!

GreggMann.

Another catch to the KSHSAA list of member schools and classification.

Just printed the 2009/2010 Classification List. It also printed a 28 Sept 2009 change sheet. Change sheet added 3 unclassified schools?????: Eldorado Extend, Pratt walden Charter, , Wichita NE Magnet. Do not know what "unclassified" means! Do or do they not compete? Does not appear that they have been included in the actual claffication list at that time--28 Sept 2009.

A moving target!!!!

Contrarian,

These are public, alternative, schools.

I am not 100% sure what unclassified means and could not find a definition in the KSHSAA Handbook, but my best guess is it means they do not participate/compete in KSHSAA activities, but that begs the question of why they would be members.

Another possibility is they did not turn in numbers until after the Sept. 20 enrollment count date and that could be because they are just organizing and may be participating in activities in the future. But again, just a guess.

Could be like Christ Prep Academy - Not members of KSHSAA but field various teams -football, baseball, wrestling. they do not participate in the post season

Unclassified...That would be a private school that has an enrollment that places them in 6A. If the new rule is put in place they would bump up to UNCLASSIFIED??!! smile Seriously, the Frontier League hasn't addressed that one yet! Maybe they just roll back down and join 1A.

KSHSAA BY LAWS, Article 1, Membership, Sec. 5: Private schools which are not eligible for full membership in the KSHSAA, and which are not under suspension from this or any other state association, may be put on an “approved school list” and members of the Association shall be permitted to compete with schools on such list. Schools on the “approved school list” shall not be eligible to participate in Association-sponsored activities or tournaments or events conducted for the purpose of determining an official KSHSAA championship.

I guess these are the unclassified schools.

The difference being these three schools are on the Sept. 28, 2009 list of KSHSAA member schools.
