Zac Gentzler will be at 103 this year. He's only weighing about 110 right now.
Zac should go 112 and dominate. It would make NO SENSE for him to drop 7 lbs. He needs to get to 130 by his FR year in college so why take 90 days of growth away? That is old school thinking. He could eat right, lift and weigh 115 by the end of the season instead of holding himself back.
Only one that could wrestle with Zac in my opinion at 112, is if A.Hood decides to go there. They are in different classes anyway but I would love to see the match.
Thank you Mr. Cokeley for making this excellent point!!! It is crazy for him to drop that kind of weight to stay 103. He would be just fine at 112 and wouldn't risk stunting his growth! Let these little guys grow!
Thank you for your input gymmom but I'm pretty sure we as his parents are not stupid enough to do anything to stunt Zac's growth! Right now Zac weighs anywhere from 108-111. And he's not doing any conditioning at all. Every year when he starts wresting and conditioning he always drops anywhere from 4-5 lbs. Our thought is if by wrestling season he hasn't put on anymore weight he will wrestle 103 so his teammate can wrestle 112. If he puts on more weight by then of course he'll wrestle 112. See in high school it becomes more of a team sport than all about the individual as it is in little leauge and Zac has two teammates that are hoping to go 112 and 119. Thanks again for your concern over stunting Zac's growth.
We going off of any certain year or just certain class? Some other guys could make an impact like the Solis kid from Bluestem if he is at 112 again. Looks like he just had a skunk regional, but that has happend before with Bluestem kids...wasn't there a kid named Randy Davis like 30-1 and went 0-2 at regionals his senior year from that school?

And they say momma Grizzlies protecting their young are dangerous? Yeah right!
Yikes! Didn't mean to strike a nerve. You are absolutely right. Sounds like you know exactly what you are doing. I am just very opposed to the old school thought of cutting weight (for my own personal reasons). I guess we have different perspectives on this issue. I'm sorry that you took this as an attack. It was not meant to be. Zac is an AMAZING wrestler who is going to be difficult to beat at ANY weight.
