Re: Blue Chip Fall Brawl - 10/07/11 05:41 PM

I can assure you that Tyler Mies is playing football. He doesn't let opponents intimidate him just because of a few pounds...............

Re: Blue Chip Fall Brawl - 10/07/11 06:03 PM

When I was coaching at Hasting NE, 1984 Todd Mathihas. starting cornerback weighed all of 115 pounds. He would come up and put a lick on anybody. He was fantastic wrestler for Howard Sheely and the tigers. So you cant assume they are not playing football just because they are smaller. Dynamite comes in small packages.

Less than 120 playing football, not very smart. smile

Re: Blue Chip Fall Brawl - 10/17/11 10:00 AM

ya, it was awsome to weight in at 7am and spencer wrestling his first match at 530pm and then leaving at 9pm, not going back next year.

Re: Blue Chip Fall Brawl - 10/17/11 11:58 AM

Ed, that's the biggest reason we didn't go this year. Same thing happened to Jake last year. He couldn't weigh in on Friday night because of football, got there early Saturday morning and didn't wrestle his first match till late afternoon. Would like to see something changed with that aspect of the tourney.

Re: Blue Chip Fall Brawl - 10/17/11 06:20 PM

I think the competition was outstanding! Those boys put in a lot of hard work. (8)matches in one day against State Champions and National Champions. Just don't understand why, after all that hard work, they only award the top 3. Doesn't make sense to me! Those boys was battling all day from 10am until 10pm and if you were 4th, 5th or 6th you was not recognized. NOT RIGHT!!!!! They Definitly need to change that aspect of the tournament. Hell, in Kansas you can't even wrestle more than 5 matches in a tournament and usually the top 8 get's some kind of recognition.
