once they are all healthy that is
be looking out for those seaman vikings they will be a force this year
Seaman was very close to the Top 10. With six SQ's and a 2X placer back, they will compete well.
As things shake out weight wise...Seaman will potentially have eight 2010/11 SQ's in the line-up along with 2X State Placer Bryant Guillen at 160. We are also excited to have AJ Brown back, who was a 2009/10 SQ at HWT. Brown, a senior who chose to play indoor club soccer in 2010/11, is expected to fill our 220 spot this year. Two in the potential starting line up had over 30 wins and three others topped 20 wins in 2010/11. Coach Kelly has things moving in a very good direction for the Vikings.
Seaamn opens the season at the Gardner Invitational...so they'll get thrown into the meat grinder early, with other tough December dates at Clay Center and Emporia.
Next update Tuesday, November 22nd!

So what weights are lee and suhr wrestling for andover central?
As reported, 132 and 138.

Re: 5A Rankings! - 12/07/11 05:16 PM
I think Javier and Quinton Harrison will end up at 113. Harrison is wrestling at 113 at the Douglass Tournament this weekend. Should be fun!
Dan Gentzler - Dan Gentzler
I did change Javi to 113 in All-Class. I will update that next Tuesday for 5A.
Lee and Suhr are still battling it out in the practice room. We are not sure who will end up where, both have wrestled at 132 and Lee will continue to wrestle 132 this week.

WOW!!!! I can't remember when the last time Newton was ranked #1. Probably back in the day when they had that Outstanding Coach name Jack Thaw. Good job Newton! Now just try to stay healthy and continue to work hard, it's paying off for you all. Big Ups to that other Great Coach - Jude Wilson. Way to keep them boys motivated, grounded, and humble. I'm truly excited for the season.

Did Ewing beat McWhorter?

Re: 5A Rankings! - 12/19/11 02:04 AM
Delbert Erickson was the coach of Newton's state championship teams. Jack, while a good wrestler and a good coach, did not have a lot of success in a team sense while he was there. He had some good individuals but they made their hay at the state tourney with Delbert at the helm.

All the Johnson County Schools were there and he placed higher.
Somewhere along the way he beat someone who beat McWhorter.
Still waiting for the final results. You should have a print out.

Team Finished in top 3 - 3 Times and Top 10 - 8 times. 26 individual State Medalist (check the wall in wrestling room) 16 Individual State Champions again (check the wall in the wrestling room). Kansas 5A Coach of the year 3 Times. 1983 Team put 5 in Finals and Won 2 and still finished 3rd. Only Dominated by a Kapaun and Ark City who were power houses back then. Dominated the 80's and 90's not to mention Asst. on 77 state Title Team.

How long does it usually take for the site to show your current up dated rankings for KWCA? It still shows 12/22/2011 rankings.
Thank you,
Mike Foster

Actually that link does show 1/10/12. Clear your history and then hit the link.
While on the rankings page press the refresh button and that should show the new rankings.

Tyler McMichael was added to the 152 class at #2, which moved everyone down. I didn't see that Kadous beat Willis. That was in the dual?

Re: 5A Rankings! - 01/25/12 12:41 PM
So Valley Center has beat Goddard, Seaman, and Kaupun but still ranked behind all three.
I know rankings are based on your perception of how they will place at state. It will be interesting to check this out at the end of February.
We really need a State Dual championship to determine state champion team and then a state tournament to determine individual weight class champions.
Amen to a dual state tournament.
That would be so exciting! Anyone here how it is working in Nebraska?
Have you looked at Brown from Seaman at 220 he won the Chanute Tourney last weekend beating a kid from Olathe East that was 27-1. Also beat the Valley Center 220 the week before.

Who are his 7 losses to?
Bonner- Bal
Posey- JC
Toelkes -SH
Not sure of the others
He showed well at the Bobcat and won the Clay Center Tourney.
Just curious. Looks like he has wrestled well as of late.

Wow, look at 120. #s 2-6 will all be at the Salina regional. Someone's going home unhappy.

Re: 5A Rankings! - 02/09/12 12:59 AM
Wow, that is sad, it is unfortunate but it does happen every year.
That is just one more reason why we should go to 2 regionals qualifying 8 per regional.
Next Tuesday will be the last official KWCA ranking release of the season. The podium will reflect the REAL rankings!
Best wishes to ALL Kansas wrestlers!!!

I would like to see Cole Hoing from lansing get some recognition at some point. He knocked off Seaton (ranked in 4a), and Landon Scott from Mill Valley who was ranked in 5a this past weekend.

I'll give him some recognition, he is probably the most improved wrestler in the State from last year to this year at 106. The no. 5-12 best kids at 5A 106 pounds are all pretty close and I'm sure Cole was considered for ranking.
