113lber?

While live streaming they said a 113lber had weighed in. Made weight and after eating and drinking was informed a mistake had occurred and he was not marked as weighed in. He then weighed in over. Did he get disqualified? That would suck if a volunteer ended his run for the podium early!!!

Sad if true. Sometimes you eat the bear, and well, sometimes he eats you.

My wrestling coach told me to watch them write my name and weight down before I went to weigh in. When I got back he asked me if I was 100% sure they got everything right. When I said no, he made me go back and check again before I was allowed to eat or drink anything.

Earnest johns-113 Weighed in and then was informed that he was not checked off an hour later. He's was 6 pounds over, worried and angry he started running. With the help of his brother (145lb state champ) his coach, and his dad he started running and running an running stayed an hour after the tournament. He ended up losing 6.2lbs and wrestled the next day.

That's totally unfair. I would be one mad son of a gun. But I must add. 6 lbs in an hour is sum good feasting.

Amazing, six over an hour after making weight. He must have eaten at the Western Sizzlin.

Was there a mark on his hand? I know when the wrestlers give their name, a check mark is put by their name. Once they make weight, the check mark is turned into an X. Their hand is then marked. The wrestlers are told this and they are repeatedly told this over and over. There is only one way to exit the line, so it is very hard to get through weigh-in without being marked off.

Beeson their hands were not marked at the second weigh-in, you must have skipped out on the second weigh-in you slacker.

I skipped out on the last two wrestlers for my table. And you are correct, hands were not marked for the second weigh in. Still, the kids need to make sure that they were marked off before they leave. Unfortunate for this young man, but a lesson to be learned for everyone else. Coaches and Wrestlers.

I agree the kids should make sure that their name is checked off.

6 lbs really isn't that much to gain , if you think about it a 32 oz gatorade adds up to being a little bit over 2 lbs on a scale , and if you ever cut weight before you know that two of those can be gone in a matter of 15 minutes , then you eat some food which will be even heavier than normal in your body after it expands when it mixes with all those liquids and you can have added 6 lbs in half an hour , granted it will come off fairly easy it is very do able , i know that the weight cutters are hearing me on this one. But yes he should have made sure they marked him , but if they ask your name then see your name then tell you to step on the scale and see that you made weight I dont get how they can just forget to put a mark next to your name. Is it possible that they were testing some kids just to make sure they reminded them to put the mark?

Their coaches and/or parents should remind them to make sure they were "checked off". I always did with my son and my wrestlers, even in HS. Tell them to watch the weigh-in guy check you off, highlight your name, however they are doing it. At a time like that, you can never be too careful. Be anal, it's a good time.

I agree with you! He definantly should have made sure. But i think both the workers and the wrestlers should be making sure that no mistakes are made to avoid mishaps like this.
