Bobcat Tournament

Bobcat Tournament - 12/23/12 08:42 AM

This tournament is just around the corner and promises to have another great collection of talent there this year. Assuming all the teams from last year attend again you could have some great matchups. I am curious what other people's thoughts are on this tournament and if anyone knows anything about the teams that might be attending and matchups to keep an eye on. 120, 126, 138 & 145 appear to be absolutely brutal.

106 - Looking forward to seeing Moody wrestle as he won the KCI tournament.

Christian Moody Collinsville
Stephen Tujague SJA
Josiah Seaton Bonner Springs
Christian Bowen GD
Matthew Schmitt Platte County

120 - I am hoping we get the chance to see the rematch (they faced off in Eudora earlier this season) between Himpel vs. Elbrader at some point. This appears from initial glance to be the most stacked bracket from top to bottom of the tournament with 126 being a close second.

Himpel Tonganoxie
Elbrader STA
Reese Coekely SJA
Kevin Perez JC
Dakota Leach GD
Tyler Mies Andale
Logan Bowen ACCHS
Jacob Sims BV
Jacob Findley Collinsville
Brad Perkins Oak Park (won the tournament last year)

126 - This is a hard one on who makes it to the finals. I predict Noah Teaney will be there as one of the participants.

Blake Stovall ON
Zak Hensley SJA
Lucas Maki AND
Tanner Madl BV
Luke Henes STA
Grant Hollinsgworth SME
Willy Dieckman ACCHS
Noah Teaney Oak Park
Ryan Heiden Collinsville

138 - I am betting Daniel Lewis gets the #1 seed based off beating Gary Wayne Harding at KCI. Therefore you'll see Shoemaker & Harding on the same side of the bracket. I like Shoemaker (since he beat Gary Wayne at this tournament last year and is wrestling really well) to advance to the finals against Lewis.

Daniel Lewis Blue Springs
Gary Wayne Harding Collinsville
Bryce Shoemaker Baldwin
Victor Hughes FS
Andrew Tujague SJA

145 - What a lineup of wrestlers. If I had to predict the finals I would say 2 of the 3 between Lambotte, Lapaglia and Dulgarian would be facing off. Regardless it will be a treat to watch, even the semis.

Tagen Lambotte ROS
Derek Lapaglia Blue Springs
Isaac Dulgarian STA
Taylor Watkins COL
Andrew Millsap JC

152 - Intriuging matchup if both Salas & Blackwell make it to the finals.

Cain Salas Blue Springs
Jonathan Blackwell Bonner Springs
Zach Hoskins STA
Matt Pratt SJA

160

Aaron Puckett Bonner Springs
Johnny Perz STA
Kyle Armstrong AND
Dakota Driskill GD
Jake Barton Collinsville

Dulgarian at145? Wasn't he at 138 earlier this year?

Re: Bobcat Tournament - 12/23/12 09:52 PM

He was 138 at Eudora

Re: Bobcat Tournament - 12/24/12 05:47 AM

He was 145 at the Johnson County Classic though and also Leavenworth. So he could go at either weight. Seeing that he was at 145 for 2 tournaments that is why I had him at 145 for this one.

I think the last four standing in that 138 bracket at the Bobcat will be...

Lewis
Shoemaker
Harding
Dulgarian

Watkins will be at 152, leaving Lapaglia/Lambotte/Millsap at 145.

Any bids on Shoemakers chances of taking that 138 bracket?

Cant wait for the semis in that bracket! They do things their own way in the seeding hard to say how things will shake out!!

The more I think about it I bet Dulgarian goes 138 then at this tournament. If that is the case what a matchup it would be if he and Shoemaker squared off in the finals again. Regardless the semi-finals of 138 will be a treat to watch.

The quarters in the 120 & 126 brackets onward will be entertaining too. The tournament can't get here quickly enough.

Re: Bobcat Tournament - 01/02/13 01:47 AM

Lewis is the favorite and likely #1 seed at 138.

Re: Bobcat Tournament - 01/02/13 02:44 AM

Also, Harding at 138, very tough. And the Colorado wrestler who was at 126 last year, placed 4th I believe, and 2nd at state.
