I think I count 9 wrestlers from SJA with one noteable not competing. Wow, lots of matches and matt time for them this year and a lot of difficult tournaments. Always look forward to their competitiveness as well as the others mentioned above. Will be a great state this year for 5A.

Re: Silver Lake - 02/03/13 02:22 AM

Some observations today at Silver Lake...

1. Congrats to Bryant Guillen. He was dominating in his 10-0 victory over 2nd ranked Trent Salsbury.

2. Greg Tooley is legit. Up until the fall in the 138 final, that was one heck of a match. And just a sophomore!

3. St. James Academy made a statement. For all of those out there that questioned them being ranked so high in 5A, think again.

4. Tagen Lambotte, Zak Hensley and Bryce Shoemaker were in full stride today. Impressive!

5. 182 continues to surprise. Crazy weight. I'm sharpening my pencil just thinking about that ranking.

Come on E how many of these teams brought a full lineup to this event? What Statement were they making Please inform.

St. James only brought 11 wrestlers and won by 48 points. Seaman brought basically the same team they won the Bobcat with.

Re: Silver Lake - 02/03/13 03:25 AM

They have a good team but don't think it was a statement it was a two team race. I know they had their reasons but it would have been a statement if they brought their full team to Garden City and won that tournament. I think they are very good but I respectivly disagree that they made a statement by winning the silver lake tournament. Do you have any results on the Goddard dual tournament? As of now i do not disagree with their ranking of #2 behind Ark City not sure if you have them 2 or 3 with STA in there but I would say 2.

Re: Silver Lake - 02/03/13 11:14 AM

two things I noticed and found interesting
Alex Cavanaugh took 2nd at 113 and Khamin Crow took 5th!
Schaefer lost 6-0 to Pratt from Baldwin. Is this the same Pratt that wrestled at the Eudora tournament?

Perhaps the 5A ranking coordinator had the 2nd ranked wrestler ranked too high. Who is that ranking coordinator? wink

Statements such as this are why I hold you in such low regard. You are attempting to validate your own opinion. Make no mistake, Saint James Academy has an outstanding head coach, a very good program and a very good team however your bloviating is nauseating.

I am.

Notice that the 3rd ranked wrestler at 5A/170 is Jared Langley who Salsbury beat last week at Garden City. Perhaps I have Trent ranked correctly.

He has him ranked second behind him. He has beaten the kids beneath him. What else is he supposed to do? I find this to be a stirring comment with no real substance. You are a smarter guy than that. Pick a fight somewhere else.

Read the All Class stream. No wonder you cannot play well with others. No one wants to play with you. Eric was soundly chastised for ranking SJA over Seaman when Seaman won the the Bobcat. For those who struggle with the concept of looking at the 5A only competition, this tournament validated the rankings. I like it when you bring value to the forum by revealing interesting news but your personality conflict with Mr. Johnson has worn me out. I like both of you and almost EVERYONE I know respects Eric's extensive contributions to Kansas wrestling with you being a boorish exception. I hope you didn't puke too much...

And . . . what is wrong with that? Whose opinion should he be attempting to validate? Isn't that a standard part of argumentation?

Premise, premise, premise . . .

THEREFORE . . .

ANSWER . . . (or, an inductive opinion - if a deductive argument cannot be attained as is often the case).

In God we trust. All others bring data. - William E. Deming

There is a real difference between an opinion and an inflamatory remark. Only you know what your intentions were. I see a personal attack and nothing more. What is your opinion? It seems to me it is only to discredit Eric Johnson.

Allow me to try and rationalize. I don't think there is any real issue with the ranking at 170lbs or any weight class for that matter.

I can see someone having an issue with the comment quoted above by Chief. To me a ranker is viewed as a neutral third party of the information / data provided. This comment is not representative of someone being neutral.

Yes, you can root for whomever or whatever you want. Just be prepared for a little flack when you are the ranker.

Hehehe! Neither did I. wink It was quite interesting. Unfortunately I will not use it, therefore I will not retain it. But . . . impressive vocab Richard!

Now . . . you might want to work on your logic skills within light of your concept of one 'validating their opinion'.

What exactly do you mean by that Richard? In my book, validating one's opinion is giving one's 'proofs' for their concluding inductive argument. They are sharing why they believe what they believe. I thought that is what grown men are suppose to do. Am I missing something?

Let the continuation of semantics continue . . . as long as it is wrestling related!

Enlighten me more King Richard! laugh

I respectfully requested specific examples of bias from Mr. Moser in a PM. He has failed to respond so I am only left to believe he pulled this statement out of his butt however he apparently forgot his head.

Come on people really, aren't there more important things we could be disagreeing on with all the recent sports news like A-Rod, Lance Armstrong both getting caught cheating and the fact that HGH and other PED's are still legal in Kansas High School sports. Maybe we should change it to Kansas HGH Sports. Just a thought. There I'm the bad guy now for bringing it up
