The 2016 KWCA Fall Clinic and Leadership Academy is fast approaching. Registration is open by snail mail or you can utilize the on-line payment option by clicking the following link:

During the build-up to the clinic interviews have been conducted with KWCA award winners and clinic presenters. All of the interviews can be found at the following website (they are listed in order starting with the most recently posted). Listen Here. The episodes can also be accessed through your iTunes account by subscribing to the KWCA podcast. That way you can plug in your aux cable and listen on your way to work as you would the radio.

Looking forward to seeing you at the clinic! For those of you who cannot attend, but would like to become KWCA members, there is an option to register for ‘membership only’ at a cost of $45.

DELBERT ERICKSON – 2016 Hall of Fame inductee. Delbert won three State Titles for Newton High School.

DENNIS CHARBONNEAU – 2016 Hall of Fame inductee. Coach Charby won three titles for Clay Center and another while at Emporia. The three-time State Champion for Clay Center continued his career at Colby CC before entering the teaching and coaching profession.

DAVID RAY – 2016 Hall of Fame inductee. Oh, the places he’s been! This is the longest podcast, but well worth the listen. It was recently announced that Coach Ray will be inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame this year at the national tournament in Topeka.

September 6, 2016
KEVIN JACKSON – World and Olympic Champion. Current Head Coach at Iowa State University. Coach Jackson will be headlining the 2016 KWCA Fall Clinic.

September 9, 2016
MICHAEL PRIETO – 2016 Garden City High School grad. 6A Senior Wrestler of the Year and Dave Schultz NWHOF winner for Kansas. Currently competing for South Dakota State University.

September 16, 2016
MATT SIMS – Last year’s 4A Coach of the Year from Colby. Matt will be starting his eleventh year at the helm of the Colby program this season. He also coaches football and golf for the Eagles.

September 21, 2016
CHRIS NEAL – Media of the Year winner. Staff photographer for the Topeka-Capital Journal. The young journalist shot photos at the 2012 NCAA Final Four and has taken photos of four presidents and Payton Manning.

September 23, 2016
THOMAS WILLIAMS – Head Coach at Benedictine College. Coach Williams hails from California, went to college at American University in DC, and has settled in middle America, where he coaches the Ravens. The NAIA school, located in Atchison has been competing in wrestling as a full varsity program only since the 2012-13 season.

September 28, 2016
COLBY CRANK – “Expect the adversity and welcome it.” Colby Crank won a NAIA National Championship last spring, SEVEN years after his State Title at Hutchinson High School in 2009. Crank is now serving as an assistant at Baker with Coach Garcia. He was a 2016 KWCA College Wrestler of the Year.

September 30, 2016
MARK WALLACE – Official of the Year. Mark has been a registered wrestling official for thirty-seven years and has worked about as many State tournaments. Mr. Wallace still looks up every question on the annual rules test and relies on his officiating mentors to stay sharp.

October 3, 2016
NATE NAASZ – KWCA vice-President and NWHOF-Kansas rep, in addition to being active on the national level with the NWCA. Nate is ‘in the know’ for national trends and issues.

Just announced... David Ray along with two of his former Montana State-Northern wrestlers will be inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame. Their awards will be presented at the NAIA nationals in Topeka in March. KWCA and NAIA Hall of Fame in the same year for David Ray. Congrats!

SEAN MCCARTHY – Contributor of the Year winner. Sean has been instrumental in promoting and supporting wrestling in the state of Kansas. The former NCAA D3 National Runner-up also won a Midlands Championship while competing for Indiana State University (Bruce Baumgartner’s alma mater).
