I just find it tough to wrap my head around the fact that Jace Koelzer can win Fargo, and compile such an impressive rresume and not be ranked 1st all class. No disrespect to Treaster, but Koelzer is another bread, one of the best I've seen, and has a national championship under his belt.

I traveled this road pre-season when he was ranked 9th! at the time proclaimed him sleeper of the year and I stand by that, I've been biding my time.....

Maybe you should make the rankings yourself...
Ive had the pleasure of losing a handful of times to Logan Treaster. He is a very talented wrestler and a very hard worker. He is very well deserving of the #1 ranking. He will do big things at Navy.

I've wrestled besides both of these very talented wrestlers. I believe they would both tell you they don't care about the rankings. With all respect these kids care about state championships more than the rankings.

won't argue with either of the above posts, my original beef with Koelzer's original ranking was I don't care if you move up 8 weight classes, winning 2 legs of the national triple crown ought to get you to number one pre-season unless of course someone else at the weight equaled that feat also...

If you would truly like me to come out with my own rankings I will.

I'd like a response to the PM I sent you. And your name as well.

Would like to see how you think ALL 14 weights should be ranked. Give it your best shot.

Jace, is a great wrestler, and has great accomplishments.

But winning Freestyle and Greco isn't same as folk style, and moving up 2 weight classes, was a big move. With lots of top notch, wrestlers in that weight. He has proved himself this year, but so have the others.

Jace is all about earning his titles. Whether that's a tournament title or a ranking, Jace wants to earn it. He know's that your success at one weight class doesn't always translate over to higher weight classes and that's why he's working harder this year than he did last year. Jace will work as hard as he can to achieve his goals and if he comes up short it will only make him work harder. Jace understands better than most adults on here that you get what you earn.

Good luck Jace, I look forward to watching you compete this weekend!

With all due respect for both of these wrestlers i can help you out with this wrestlingdad37 all you can go on this years opponents within the all class top 10. Treaster is 7-0 vs that talented 9 Koelzer is i believe 0-0 vs that same group of kids. Both have 1 loss vs out of state wrestlers so im not sure what else you would go on. It's too bad about the weather that weekend in january because they were scheduled to come to Newton for the TOC. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions but i can honestly say from an unbiased position that chief has it right.

I really don't understand what all the fuss it about with rankings. It's fun to look where everyone stacks up but does it really matter? Do we really think that Iowa, OK State and Penn State are making their recruiting decisions on based the Kansas Class and All Class Rankings. It's up to the kids to handle their business on the mat and everything else will take care of itself.

If it was up to me I wouldn't even let my kid look at the rankings. I appreciate the time it takes to complete this process and you aren't ever going to make everyone happy and get every ranking right.

Re: All Class Ranking - 02/23/17 01:49 AM

Thats not the point if you are going to question something have your facts lined up. If it was reversed and Koezler was 1 and Treaster was 2 and one had the better record vs the top 10 I would've never questioned. No one all year has said anything on that other than preseason ranking when Koezler was 9.Obviously he is way better than that. I just replied to this with facts while acknowledging that both wrestlers are top notch.

Re: All Class Ranking - 02/23/17 03:02 AM

First let me say I love watching both these kids compete! Jaces duck unders are some of my favorites!... and the powerful mullet!

I could see his Jaces Fargo accomplishments in cadets making an argument for #1 but let's not forget Treaster is a junior Fargo AA as well! And if you've been around the freestyle/Greco season for very long you know juniors age group is definitely a step above! (Rightfully so being older and more mature athletes) , if I was a ranking coordinator I would take a Junior AA over a cadet AA

But let's be real the rankings are more for us old spectators to talk about. I know these serious athletes could probably care less, just concentrating on that last tournament of the season!

I know the 5a and the 6a 120 brackets are going to be some as a fan I'll be paying particular attention to! Good luck gentlemen!
