321A Rankings for 2017-18

The 321A Rankings have been posted.

Keep in mind I have not heard that many weight projections so the majority of these rankings are based off of last year's state tournament results while adding the teams that dropped down in classification from 4A.

Please send me any weight projections, injuries, move ins or move outs, etc.

We have a rankings update tomorrow. Wrestling coaches, families, friends and fans please send me any details on projected weights for the upcoming season.

I've heard from a few coaches, but still am missing info from the majority of programs in 321A.

Didnt Wiltfong pin Rokey at State?

Good catch. I missed that when I moved Wiltfong up to 195. It is fixed in my spreadsheet now.

Newell is at Hays not TMP this year

321A Rankings are updated for December 12, 2017.

The last 321A Rankings for 2017 are now updated. The rankings will be updated again after the first week of competition in 2018.

Schoenberger of Russell is ranked at 120 but is wrestling 126. He also beat the #5 and #6 last week

The 321A Rankings have been updated to start the New Year.

There are a few wrestlers who have been removed because of injury or because they have not been on the mat this season.

I took a good look at where to rank Schoenberger prior to keeping him at 120. The first tournament of the year at Osborne he wrestled 120 and the past three tournaments have been at 126. I wanted to see what weight Schoenberger went this week before moving him.

I didn't see any dual results for Russell vs Beloit prior to the rankings, so I was not aware that Schoenberger beat #5 Emmot at 126.

Schoenberger is (1-1) with #6 Turner at 126 on the season. Turner won 5-2 at Minneapolis. Then this past week Schoenberger won by forfeit at Ellsworth. I'm not sure what happened at Ellsworth to cause a forfeit, but with the information I have on hand I would probably rank Turner ahead of Schoenberger.

We'll see how things shake out this week.

The scoreclock stopped working. The match against Turner was ran on paper off track wrestling, and I'm assuming put into the system later. Schoenberger was winning 8-0 in the 3rd when he pinned him.

The 321A rankings have been posted for January 24, 2018.

Several new number one ranked wrestlers with a few head-to-head matchups between ranked wrestlers and upsets at other weights.

The 321A Rankings have been updated for January 30, 2018.

The 321A Rankings have been updated for February 6, 2018.

The 321A Rankings have been updated prior to Regionals this week.

Only one change was made to the rankings due to fewer matches wrestled leading up to Regionals.

Here are the final rankings for February 20, 2018 as we head into State.

Keep in mind these are rankings, they are not predictions. There are several instances where 5th or 6th ranked wrestlers may not be able to advance through the backside because of bracketing matching them up against one another.

I'll try and post some predictions later today or tomorrow in a separate thread.

Here is a look at how the final rankings panned out for 321A:

• 71 out of 84 ranked wrestlers placed, that’s 84.5% of the state placers
• 28 wrestlers finished exactly as they were ranked, that’s 33.3% correct
• 10 champions were correctly ranked #1, that’s 71.4% correct
• Every finalists was ranked at least in the top 4
• 7 out of the 10 teams ranked in the final rankings finished in the top 10
